Modding the color of a subrace.

Hello, I am decently new to modding, specifially on this game. I am just starting to go beyond the fcs, and there is little updated documentation on thoroughly modding races and subraces. I seem to be hitting a wall trying to change the color of a subrace I modded into the game.
With the aid of the Dra'ak Shek subrace mod for guidance, I have undertaken the task of creating a green colored subrace of shek. Clearly in the Dra'ak subrace mod the author had found a way to adjust a subraces color in game(The Dra'ak being red instead of the regular Shek blue). I am simply looking for some guidance on where to look or how to go about changing a races designated color map.
Any help or information is much appreciated.

There are a number of ways to change the skin color of a race in Kenshi.

1. Mod the body diffuse texture files (Kenshi/data/character/skins/race) in Photoshop or equivalent photo editing software
2. Edit the "skin tone" in race editor files (Kenshi/data/editor) in Notepad or equivalent word processing software
3. Mod the body mask and head mask files (Kenshi/data/character/skins/race) in Photoshop or equivalent photo editing software

Each option will yield different result. Output for option 2 and 3 is highly dependent on the body diffuse texture from option 1.

I have never tried the Dra'ak mod but I assume the mod author go with option 1 and mod the body diffuse texture files in Photoshop. That's the most straight forward and obvious choice and will yield the best result to what you're expecting.

If you went with option 2, how would you restrict the skin tones to yellows or browns?
