I can't seem to import .mesh into Scythe.
It's my understanding I need to in order to give a .phs a custom model, but for whatever reason the .mesh from the blender add-on and even the .mesh from the game itself won't import.
I am able to import .mesh files that are in the Scythe examples folder so I know it isn't completely broken, but that's as far as I have been able to figure out.
EDIT/SOLVED:
As odd as the solution seems I managed to figure out something that worked. In the Scythe Ogre.log it was telling me it couldn't find [MeshSerializer_v1.100]. I noticed in the .mesh files (opened with notepad++) it said they were using [MeshSerializer_v1.100] but the example files were using [MeshSerializer_v1.30] so I simply changed it to say [MeshSerializer_v1.30] using notepad++ in the .mesh file and it now can import into Scythe and then also make a .phs file to be used in Kenshi.
I think the problem may have stemmed from not having Ogre installed as the full line from the Scythe log was:
OGRE EXCEPTION(7:InternalErrorException): Cannot find serializer implementation for current version [MeshSerializer_v1.100] in MeshSerializer::importMesh at \Projects\OgreCVS\Branches\Eihort_vc71\ogrenew\OgreMain\src\OgreMeshSerializer.cpp (line 114)
but it could be something on the blender plugin end, either way changing the text in the file from [MeshSerializer_v1.100] to [MeshSerializer_v1.30] works well enough.
Blender
Hello, I'm having an issue with importing any of Kenshi's mesh files to blender. All of them return a "Failed to convert .mesh files to .xml" error in blender. Version is 2.91, latest plugin version. I would like to make new meshes for characters, but that's not possible due to this error. Any suggestions? I suspect I may have something simple set up wrong, but I'm not sure what it might be.

I don't know if I did something wrong or what, but I installed the blender plugin, it shows up in the addons box, and is checked, but then when I go to the import menu, it's not there.
OGRE is open-source and I love it for that, but my god are both it and the FCS incredibly painful to use, or even to learn how to use.

I'm not experienced with blender so I can't be much help with what's going wrong, but I do know you shouldn't use the dev provided plugin as it isn't up to date. There is a better community made one instead: https://github.com/Kindrad/Kenshi_IO_Continued
