More Recruits?
Hey i have been playing this and i have added my own mods to the game to make it so there are a lot more wandering groups of foes about which is great and makes it pretty dangerous. One major problem im having at the moment is that i cant find enough people to recruit and i havent worked out how to increase the number of recruitable wanderers in the towns. If anyone knows how to do this please can you post here

A man walked into a bar. Ouch.......
from what ive noticed the recruits refresh every cpl of days. all i do is travel from town to town. by the time Ive done a round, they're refreshed. had no issues findin recruits.
I am a Gamer. Not because I have no life. But because I choose to have many.
If you go into the construction kit, and go to characters. There are people named there like Skinner and Jimbad. They have the Dialog set to be able to hire them. If you want to make more recruits, I believe you just need to make a copy of a recruit in the game already and rename him to something else. Do this a dozen times and you should get a dozen new recruits. There are a few levels of recruits, plus Wingwang.
If that doesn't add more recruits, you can go to Factions -> Divisions -> Recruit's List and change the number of recruits in the right side of the window for each type. I think this second method is the correct way to add MORE total, while the first method with give more variation but the same total number.
You could also create a new class of recruits, that is stronger, but costs considerably more. Creating a new dialog and using that instead. Changing the stats of recruits is simple enough too.
I am having a problem changing the max squad amount allowed in game too. It is late tho and my eyes are having a hard time focusing, so perhaps i will see it tomorrow. If anyone else knows where it is, I would appreciate that.

Last time i checked, it was hard-coded. Chris lowered the squad size for some reason. That was a while back tho.Hassie wrote:I am having a problem changing the max squad amount allowed in game too.
Yah, I was kind of afraid of that. I don't think he is planning on releasing full source code before full release if at all. I suppose I will wait until his next update is out, and see if I can ask him about it, and if it can be raised, or if the limit can be eliminated altogether.Hellhound1 wrote:Last time i checked, it was hard-coded. Thank you for the response.
As to the request for more recruits, I found those two methods I suggested don't work quite as I intended. It seems the Saloons spawn the recruits, based on what is told to them. They are told to spawn "Recruits List" which has a set number of each spawn type. Adding several new sword for hire types, and adding them to that "Recruits List" and increasing the numbers for the others listed should give you what you want. As the limit for your squad is set to 20 at this time tho, adding more of the expensive and better starting recruits may be of more interest in case yours die in battle or such.

I highly doubt he'll release the source code unless theres a Kenshi 2 or something
The problem with the game still under development is that if you make a mod now, you don't know what'll happen in the next version, be it your mod breaks, it's features are included, or it becomes redundant etc. In the future the squad size may be editable from the construction set.
