Hello, i would appreciate an advice about texturing an object i made... I created a Storage box for steel bars. I made my own model in blender, exported it, converted it and made it appear and work as a storage box in the game...
What i need help is how do i make textures i carefully placed on my model in blender ? when i export the model, it makes one .xml file, one .material file and pictures i used for textures.. when i view it in OgreMeshy, it looks as i want it in game.
I noticed in constr. set you use .dds files to put textures on objects..
1) How do i convert my textures to .dds and how do i make them placed where i want them to be placed on my model?
2) How do i make it bigger in the game? (if i scale it in blender before export, it is still the same size in OgreMeshy..)
3) How big should be the models i make..? how do i know what size is too much for the game? (Megabites... i ment how complicated)
Thank you for help
Functioning mod.. aside for textures..
To turn your jpeg or any image for that matter into a .dds just use paint.net to convert it, by opening it through paint.net and saving it as .dds apart from that I guess just make sure your texture is all as one image its how model have their textures sorted out and from what I know basically every game does too.
The size issue I don't know it has something to do with the exporter I guess.
When I said about how there were too many vertices in your model I meant this heres two screenshots as examples:
This one is of two cylinders now one looks more like a hexagon but with a bit of editing it can look more round and with textures it can even look smooth too
I'm not sure what tutorial you did but vertices are a sort of fundamental thing for modeling in 3d space they are just basically the points you see and thats what I meant when you sent me the file saying it was too smooth as in too many vertices. But yeah I didn't know much when I started out so I understand you didn't know what I meant I just thought that the tutorials would cover using vertices, faces and edges.
