I have a CD key only i won on a giveaway,can i use in Steam?

Post here if you have problems ordering or unlocking the evaluation version with your new key

3 years ago i won a CD key for the game but i couldnt run the game for some reason, now i have a decent rig and i want to try it out but it seems that i cant activate the key on Steam.
What do i do now if i dont have the name or email of the key?
I really want to try it out and have the updates on steam.
