Kenshi has no sound. I have no problem with this, as I am very aware it is an alpha. However, if anyone can recommend any Japanese/Cowboy themed soundtracks or a bit of ambient desert themed-stuff to listen to while playing the game, I would much appreciate it!

There have been a few threads like this. Try searching the offtopic forum since I believe there was a fairly comprehensive list floating around somewhere.

No problem. I thrive on noobness. Also, I'm glad I could help. Welcome to the kenshi community.

I would be surprised as hell if no one mentioned The Eagles' Journey of the Sorcerer:

Now there's a song befitting of a setting like this.

Oh I think I know a good one is, if you have watched "The Good, Bad, and Weird" movie it has some good cowboy music, I think it's a Korea or Japanese movie it's on Netflix I like it cause of the bounty hunter type theme.

I won't say much about it.. since I posted about it in another thread, but just read my sig. If you like Video Game Remixes and trance/dubstep/electro/house etc, give it a whirl :)
In the year 2065 the amount of cat pics on the internet will eclipse the amount of porn pics.

You also might like these two songs from the "Asura's Wrath" soundtrack.

Wind - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjSA57H5lyQ
Fang - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZsUeb- ... E&index=50

Granted, they may not fit perfectly, but eh.

I know it's not Japan, but in case you want it to be.

A good playlist with lots of 'feudal' / 'japanese' music.

Every time I play this game, this is in my head :
'Borderlands Fyrestone theme', http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGrton_uMCk, it's not mine btw
You can listen to the whole thing, but the main stuff starts @ 53 seconds, if you can, listen to it entirely.

I usually play with the intro songs of the borderlands saga http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1QUZzeZ ... oWVL5DvURg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t99bpil ... oWVL5DvURg. They fit nicely, I say.

If anyone has the CD to Age of Empires, you can extract the soundtrack from it. The artist is DJ Jubilee. It's the perfect background music! I just put that on repeat... Ah. Space out. Takes me back, too. :D
