Never finished a single IQ test here because didn't understood them tasks and got bored pretty fast. Never heard of Mensa either. However i believe that high IQ does not indulge one to be a deek, so if op here is trying to demonstrate their intellectual superiority in a mean way, they'll probably meet an axe to the head eventually

Also recently found out that originally IQ meant to be calculated like this: (mental age / phisicall age)*100

And might i assume, supported by statement that "everything ingenious is simple", that all those "275 vague tasks" tests are BS compared to original method? 8)

actually, i think i've also read somewhere that IQ does actually shows how capable of learning one is, i.e. how fast one can become intelligent, and not how intelligent they're at the moment.

Here's roughly how I view it:

You are born with a certain amount of RAM and processor speed based on how much RAM/GHz your parents had.

You can learn a certain set of programs/analytical tools.

It doesn't matter how much RAM or GHz if you don't know how to use your computer.

Life experience and knowledge are data.
How clean the data you import is based on the quality of the tools you're using. You also need to be able to properly read the files.

Older people have been importing data for longer. So they generally have a better recognition, as in, "I recognize this pattern!" However, this is dependent on clean imports.

People comparing RAM or GHz is irrelevant. You are simply allocated a certain amount at birth. It's just as irrelevant as comparing who's prettier.

You should be comparing the mental programs each of you are running. A program can be learned, adjusted and shared. For example, I run a program in my head that is meant to dentify and copy effective behavior in other people. I try to mimic as perfectly and closely as possible to get the optimum result.

So basically, what you are saying is that people should compare how they process data to how other's process data to "tweak" their processing to become more efficient?

Essentially, acknowledging how one's own perception of their world yields a certain result/conclusion based on data input and and acknowledging how other's obtain their results and comparing the two perceptions to identify possible flaws in one's own logic.

Basically, the individual would have to have a certain level of self awareness (as to be able to identify why they think the way they do, as well as how it it influences their understanding of the data)
as well as be able to correctly observe/translate how their partner came to the conclusion) in order to compare notes and potentially see the flaws in their own thinking.

Problem is, unless the individual tries to assess the situation from a neutral/detached standpoint they will either be too critical or too lenient and would create an unrealistic understanding as to how to process what they see.

EX:
Too lenient:
I know exactly what I just read, therefore my understanding must be efficient.

Too critical:
I don't know what the hell I just read, therefore my understanding must be completely off.

Neutral/detached:
This text is my basic understanding of what I read, I responded based on the information I have learned and understand that what I learned was also influenced/biased based on it's source.Upon reading the response I will compare the two beliefs and see the consistences-differences and how each other's perspectives yields a different result.

I do agree,it is important to compare "algorithms/programs" (ways of understanding/looking through the eyes of another) as it creates a "3D image" of the data, rather than a "2D" one. based on which perception you see it from. (Look at both sides of the coin).
