Yeah, i know this is probably stupid, because zoe quinn has mod friends everywhere who have been shadow banning people left and right. but screw it. What she and her cronies are doing is not fair to all the other indie devs who are honest, working very hard, and to the ones that tried their best but things did not work out.

If this was just a sex scandal, i would be like "man everyone is getting a piece of that ass but me".

Unfortunately, the issue i have here, is not only is this an indie dev who abused her relationship to push a sub par "game", but she also received money from these people. They also hyped up her talents, all with out revealing their relationship to the public.

This gets exasperated even more, when you take into consideration that they told everyone to donate to her pay pal account.

Then there was the whole gamer jam incident, that thing looks really suspicious to me.

As a freelance graphic artist, I can honestly tell you that most indie devs are too busy working on their favorite pastime to give a rats about how other people get their games going unless it might be a way for them to help themselves using that said method.

I don't think bribing a lot of people with sex is a great way to go in my honest opinion.

its not the sex part that concerns me. Its the money. Its the strange interconnected financial relationships between several people and small companies that is concerning. Keep in mind, that this is not something that we see in other industries, because of insider trading laws, conspiracy laws, and other regulations.

If a small bakery were to have the same thing happen with a local newspaper, people would be sent to jail. So why are these people so special?

Then there is the reactions. The whole "gamer is a dying movement", and the bad mouthing of gamers. This is not a typical reaction. especially amongst several outlets. The whole thing is strange.

i been hooked on it since they got survival mode in and they use steam workshop integration for the Mods. which is awesome, no more downloading mods by hand.. that was a pain. even more so after each content update.

Well, thanks for the explanation. I just don't find myself getting dragged into the hype train and all the stuff that these indie people are building for themselves. I find it hard to empathise with the situation although I must admit in other things in life I am disgusted by money trails and people doing questionable things and getting away with it because "they can". I guess that is similar.

I know I'm being a Nazi about this, but I think it's important to note, as it's a common mistake and misconception- Scandanavians are not Vikings, and the term is entirely anachronistic. In fact, not even all medieval Scandanavians were Vikings, as it represented a small subset/class of the populace that were unlanded, able carpenters/ship builders, and seafarers. A Dane/Swede/Norwegian would have been a Viking only if he were a roaming, raiding, violent-type of guy., so it's not only an incorrect generalization, but it's also misrepresentative of what you're trying to say, as a Viking would absolutely endorse & promote violent games. Also, (I know you didn't say anything of the sort, but) they absolutely did not have horns on their helmets. Carry on.

Quite frankly the entire gamergate situation works as a fantastic study of so many facets of how large groups of people, the internet, the media, and society in general works. It's just so interesting how screwy people get when faced with certain kinds of spin, especially people who never really learned the value of objective reasoning in their classes.

Anyways the situation is a mess, actually looking into it at this point is probably an exercise in futility with all the happenings, so to anyone who just doesn't give a shit, gj, your saving yourself a lot of time and frustration. For anyone else:
