Indie royale
Great news
The new indieroyale is out and serves us with 3 notable games!
TOWNS
great game the likes of Dwarf fortress. If you don't have it yet, go get it now
3079
Mixture between minecraft and fallout. A pretty interesting rpg-shooter in minecraft blockverse
Wyv and Keep
Old-school coop-platform-puzzle game. Not what I prefer but a nice addition to round up the whole bundle
Considering the imo low quality bundles that were proposed lately, this one is pretty nice. Keep in mind that the three games are in alpha.

I played a demo of towns a while back and gave up. I remember there were major issues where if you queued up too many things then people would starve because food production was too low down the list of jobs to do. This would lead to everyone just sitting around and the game had to be restarted.
Plus a total inability to assign jobs to anyone. Hopefully this has been fixed in later versions, but it kinda killed the motivation I had for the game.

This is not indie, but it's the classic rpgs of all time and it a sweet deal you cant afford to miss if you happen not to own any of the games (or just one two)
I own all beside the temple one, and I can vouch for them all.

I never knew Amnesia was a indie game, probably my favorite game and software ever. But i love almost every game that is made to be scary even if it does not do so very well (which amnesia does wonderfully). Never heard of any of the other ones but minecraft, I tried it but i only found the programming property of the game interesting. I wish it was predominantly made in C++ instead of java.1337 wrote:Seems like a nice collection but why isn't any neverwinter nights there?

Guess there is a limit how many great games you can put into same sale atonce, and for such low price, Gog.com own sale look like a rip of in compare and they tend to be the cheapest at good old games.1337 wrote:Seems like a nice collectionbut why isn't any neverwinter nights there?

Should have figured with your username that you like those kind of games.SilentHill wrote:I never knew Amnesia was a indie game, probably my favorite game and software ever. But i love almost every game that is made to be scary even if it does not do so very well (which amnesia does wonderfully).
But yes They're indie, gz you learned one new thing today! Hussah!
Indeed.
Also, has anyone bought any of the UFO trilogy games form GOG.com? I have the originals but they are stuck at 800x600 resolutions (which sucks and can't be edited). Did GOG.com change the ones they are selling? Maybe I could re-buy them?

GOG has forums for each game they sell, just so you know (I'm a regular there)
Aftermath apparently supports 1024x768 (Google searched for you). The windowed mode tutorial HERE apparently works for all Cenega [1C Publishing] games (the UFO series was published by them) and can increase the resolution
Aftershock supports 1024x768 via GPU scaling in your driver software. More info HERE or you could try a tutorial for windowed mode HERE to increase the resolution
Afterlight should support higher resolutions (guessing again cause I don't have it). If not, try the windowed mode HERE
I also had a look on the net for you. Talk seems to be that the UFO games mentioned above seem to support 1024x768 natively via some sort of launcher so it seems odd your original ones are stuck at 800x600. Are they patched to the latest patches?. THIS site may interest you as it has a lot of info, support, and much more on the UFO series
Also the UFO series forum at GOG.com has some links to mods and fan-made patches, plus questions and answers if you're interested. The link is HERE
I hope this helps, have a good one
Quite possibly the most useful post I have ever seen from someone in a forum.....thanks.
EDIT: Ahh, it still makes the game small. No way to increase the size of the window that I can find. Also, I don't actually know how to use the other bit of information that was in those forums. How do I set 'GPU Scaling'? Sounds like I can just stretch the image over my screen. Anyone understand that?

Thankyou kindlyBlxz wrote:Quite possibly the most useful post I have ever seen from someone in a forum.....thanks.
The windowed mode doesn't allow a larger window? Are you unable to put your cursor at the edge and resize it via dragging? Also, have you tried pressing ALT + ENTER whilst in windowed mode? That may help fullscreen the game at a larger resolution. Not sure thoughEDIT: Ahh, it still makes the game small. No way to increase the size of the window that I can find. If you're using an nVidia graphics card and have it's associated drivers installed from HERE, right-click on your Desktop and choose NVIDIA Control Panel. Then choose Adjust desktop size and position. Once there, you will find the option to change the scaling from Display to GPU under Perform scaling on, along with three scaling modes of Aspect Ratio, Full screen, and No scaling. If the settings you select do not work with the game, make sure to tick the option Override the scaling mode set by games and programs
For ATI graphics cards, try THIS (I don't have an ATI card, so this was a quick Google search for you)
I've never used scaling before, so take note of your current settings and have a play round with them and see how you go. If you're still having trouble, why not try making a post in GOG's UFO Series forum ?
Have a good one, I hope this helps
No resizing allowed. I tried alt-enter as well. Not working. Got a radeon thingy card, not nvidia. I followed those instructions but I must be using an older version because the pictures are different. But you gave me enough of a shove to start checking it out myself. now that I know what I should be looking for. Thanks again for the help.
EDIT: Well even if I change my screen resolution to 1024x768 it won't work. The game will start up and then temporarily change back to 1920x1080 and then run the game....at 1024x768. So its this little box in the middle of the screen. Hard to read anything. No idea how to do GPU scaling....

I'm home from work so I've had more of a look for you. Have a look at this thread HERE. The person is using the older 10.5 Catalyst drivers due to the thread being from mid 2010, but the instructions given should be the same or very similarBlxz wrote:...No idea how to do GPU scaling....
This thread HERE may be of interest too as it also gives instructions for GPU Scaling via a slightly different method, but it apparently works
You might be interested in ATI Tray Tools if you don't have it already. It sits in your system tray and gives you many option with just a right-click on it's system tray icon. One particular option is allowing you to create game profiles with a Desktop shortcut. Read about and get it from HERE NOTE: Do not install ATI Tray Tools if you have the Catalyst Control Centre installed. You may run into problems! It does work for many people alongside the Catalyst Control Centre, but I saw someone had a really bad experience and I'd hate to recommend something to you that may cause you problems. Installing it alongside the Catalyst Control Centre is your choice
Let me know how everything goes
The problem is that the version of the catalyst control centre doesn't have the gpu scaling option anywhere. And it seems to be different from the pictures that everyone else is using. I tried searching but couldn't find anything relevant. Here is a pic of the information about my thingy. Dunno if its relevant, might just be the driver information only. But I've tried searching within the control centre itself as well to no avail.
EDIT: This forum only shows the left half of the pic. Here is a link to it instead.

EDIT2: I seem to have found the GPU scaling. I took the advice of changing to a non native resolution and then searching for it. It appears once things are like that. Of course it won't apply in the game. I run it and it will automatically change me back to native and then run the game at 1024x786 again as a little box in the centre. My eyes are not that good and its frustrating.
I even tried going into compatibility and forcing it to run at 680x400 and it changes to that resolution, then changes BACK to native 1920x1080 and then runs the game at 1024x786. Makes no sense.
Is there anything else you can suggest?
