Ladies, gentlemen and gusmil. This will be my final post for about a month and a half. I am heading out on a 1400km (900 mile) pilgrimage on foot starting from the day after tomorrow. Won't be online anymore from tomorrow though.
Take care and see you all in about 45 days (give or take).

Yeah, weather is going to be shit it looks like. At least the snow has stopped. Going to be rain for at least half the walk until I get around the mountains to the drier side.

When I was in Japanese class they said that the weather is very different depending on the region. I think it is due to the winds and the mountains position.(I have no idea).
Where is this pilgrimage to take place and what is its purpose?

I'm walking around Shikoku. This is the smaller of the 2 southern island of Japan. The bottom half of the island is very very wet this time of year. it will probably rain for 1 day out of every 3. Once I get around to the northern side of this little island then the weather should pick up a bit.
The reason is technically religious. its a Buddhist pilgrimage to 88 temples of significance. The walk itself is about 1300 years old; but I am not Buddhist, or anything really so will be doing it more as a test of myself and because the little uniform I get to wear looks fun. Other than that I don't have much reason beyond my spur of the moment decision to do it. I am on holiday after-all.

Hey it is something you can say you did. You wear a uniform, is the event some sort of annual event with many people participating?

Its very famous. About 150,000 people do it yearly. But 99.9% do it by bus or car. So I will maybe see a few other people on the road walking but its very rare to walk the whole thing. The uniform is more like a monks gear than actual uniforms in the traditional sense of the word.

I looked it up on wikipedia. You can actually recreate the uniform in Kenshi.
It also says the locals address the people as o henro-san, quite interesting. The temples architecture actually blends very well with the surrounding nature. Ha ha pilgrimage by car, lazy people.

It will give you something to re-create in Kenshi
As Blxz completes his pilgrimage he will gather followers and eventually be able to defeat the guardians within the 80 temples.

Thought I would repurpose this thread again. I'm going to go cut off my internet today in preparation for going home so unless I find another source of internet here you won't hear from me for a few days.
If its been more than a week then I have died in a plane crash and I expect you all to shave your beards in mourning.
EDIT: Hold those razors! My internet and phone company wanted to charge me ~100 american dollars equivalent to cancel my account. Since I am leaving the country I just went and shut my bank account instead. Ha, jokes on them.
Free interwebs for the next 3 days.

It is beautiful and dark this time of year. And none of that melting ice crap that gets the greenies so worked up.
