Calpal's comment on throwing axes led me to believe he was envisioning hatchets or more likely tomahawks, which are not proper throwing axes, though they could be thrown effectively, and are (too often) depicted as such.
Tomahawks are meant for throwing...

I'm just gonna stick this here, because I am new and don't want to start a whole thread about bows:

I hope the developer takes a look at this video when he is developing bows :)

Just wondering how often Danish master archer Lars Anderson (it's hilarious how often he says "Lars Anderson" and "the old master techinques" in the video) had to try to get the moves on clip. It all looks really cool, but given enough tries probably any archer would be able to do these stunts and only show the successful tries on youtube.

Aside from topic derailment, bolas would be neat to catch that stupid bounty that lost its right arm. Also, throwing rocks when you don't want to fix your weapons all the time or have no other ranged weapon available.

No, that is a common misconception, they were a tool, nothing more. Native americans had knives, spears and bows intended for attacking at range. Being relatively top-heavy, tomahawks can be thrown effectively, but they were not specifically designed for that. Proper throwing axes have broader blades and often a curved hilt to increase rotation speed (and thus impact.)
