I know this wouldnt be something thats intergrated soon, but I was thinking it may de-stress the micro a bit to have the option to send characters on automated trade runs. Being able to open the map and insert "trade routes" then assign characters ( by name from a dropdown box maybe? ) to each route and have them run off with a backpack full of stuff to sell. You could limit this to 2-3 characters per route by adding more drop downs to each individual route. You could have a trader and 2 guards or 3 traders.. etc.. Later it could be upgraded further to allow the characters to leave thier homebase with materials, run to another city and sell those materials, buy more materials from that city then run to another city to sell or just return to thier main base with the materials.

Like I said in the beginning of this post, I know this isnt something that would be intergrated anytime soon, just making a suggestion for the future. I think it would be a good addition to the economics and automation of this game. I know the game isnt finished yet but I have maxed number of characters atm and sometimes its hard to keep them busy. If I could send them off on different routes with different materials to make me some cat, its better imo then watching them stand around and slack off. This could be detrimental later in the game when currency is more important than it is right now. I see alot of potential for future upgrades to a trade route system in this game. Unfortunately that means more dev work, but I think the outcome would be sweet.

On a sidenote, I also dont think this should be a completely "ALL POSITIVE" experience for the player. Im sure there is a way to have raiders or bandits spawn randomly along said trade routes after the player establishes them. Could make room for a named mob that can only be found when your trade routes are being attacked or even just chance encounters, quests, etc..

Bad idea? :|

Oh boy, I would absolutely kill to have this implemented in the game. It would make my life so much more simple to not worry about sending someone to a base and have to worry about switching camera views, having to constantly keep moving the other character in case they stop near bandits, pausing the game to sell stuff so I don't have to worry about surprise ambushes... yes. Yes to all of this.

Wow, this I a very cool idea, especially the part about bandits spawning on the trade route, I hope this could (or will) be implemented soon. It could come in handy.
