hi.
It would be nice if mining was like in Ultima.
you go into the mine and begin to dig, dig, dig
dig a different kind of ore (ore quality may depend on the skill., and the location of the mine)
obtained from various different metal ores. and different quality weapons, respectively.

yes it will add difficulties, but who is now easy?

like mining is not automated, but we know where to use slaves.

the quality of the ore will depend on the quality of weapons and armor.
but not as much as now: 1 Katana, Katana 2, Katana 3 .....
will katana iron, steel .... obsidian .... and another what are you dig out in the mine.

ty.

i think having multiple materials is good, it certainly adds alot more selection n such.

If this was added, a system like what Skyrim has would be good. (laborers working the mines)
Mining is not so much skill based but better ore is harder to find, or like minecraft hard to find and need the right tools.

Like in skyrim if your smithing skill is high enough, you can make an iron sword that is stronger than someones steel sword.
if skills are caped at 100, then perhaps there is upto 101 differant grades for each smithing material.
eg: wood 101 dif grades ,iron 91 dif grades, steel 81 dif grades, ect...
The world is nothing but an illusion of the mind

I agree. Smithy level should affect the quality of the product.
but the material too. such as dragon's ass skin is better than beaver's skin

Once prospecting is implemented the science skill will help you find deposits of metal, I can't promise that there will be a variety of metals, but it would seem to make sense that lower end weapons could be made of copper, currently Iron and Steel are the only types of material available but Chris could add additional types of metals if he wanted to. I've never seen him mention it, but I could see copper being a necessary material for wiring, and being needed in the future if it is added for a vast amount of things you can currently craft with a simple "building materials" placeholder recipe. It comes down to what Chris wants to do, and whether it is actually fun to have more advanced recipes for things of that nature.

As for the quality of gear being derived from smith skill as well as the recipe, that would make a certain amount of sense, but I'm unsure exactly how flexible such a system would be. I suppose even a fairly minimal increase, say a total of .3 for a 100 smith (.1 every 33 skill) might be reasonable, but if the depending how the item list works it may be a lot of trouble for a fairly small impact.
