This request is pretty straight forward, increase the distance between characters having conversations.
- 1- It would be nice to be able to buy something from across the counter, rather than running around the counter.
- 2- If I lived in a world like Kenshi and someone I didn't know got as close to me as people do now; my belt knife, or Wakizashi would reside in their rib cage (for that matter, that might be the case in the real world, really don't like close talkers)
Essentially, I visualize a conversation in Kenshi between strangers, as being something like a wild west scene. People eyeing each other suspiciously with hands close to their weapons and only getting close to each other if planning to fight, or already friends.
Yes, this is a rather petty request, but I am a rather petty person.

You can actually buy from across the counter, however you have to walk right up next to it and come to a complete stop before hitting the talk command... I agree, the base 'talk to' distance should be further away then halfway ontop of the person your talking to.

I agree with this and support it fully. I've been trying to suss out exactly the issue, as it pertains to combat as well. For instance, if I'm wielding a nodachi, why am I going to want to stay in as close quarters as possible?
It would be nice if characters just got in range and executed their actions, rather than attempting to reach the exact location of their target before doing so. Not sure whether that would be a nightmare to implement at this point.

Right now the exact issue is that characters do a two stage check when you try to interact with them. First, they detect whether or not they are within interact range which seems to be around 3-4 meters. If they are, dialogue opens, if not, then the character paths to the exact coordinates of the target. This means your character will walk behind counters in shops instead of up to the counter.
