Currently there seems to be no way of leveling base stats without combat. The only exception to this is of course the strength stat, which can be leveled all the way up to 100 without ever getting into a fight if you wanted to. I wish we could at least raise our toughness stat by means other then combat, this would allow us to raise our chances of survival before we get into battles.

Another thing that is sort of disappointing about the game is the lack luster food items in the game. It's sad that there is such a disjointed hierarchy if you will, some food is just useless for most of the game and bread offers way more variety.

I propose that we give food items the ability to grant a small amount of experience to base stats (strength, toughness, dexterity, perception) when eaten.

If different food items gave experience to different base stats it would help to give the player a reason to diversify their food supply.

It would be really nice to see some attention paid to the foodstuffs in general. I think it's rather silly to have some be blatantly better then others, both in how much nutrition they provide and the size they take up in your inventory. They could stand to be a bit more videogame-y, where the more effort it takes to make them the better they are. Or perhaps also specialize them, give them clear uses, such as a Ration Pack being perfect for travelers (don't have it give exp), while some bigger sized food items give better experience to multiple base stats so its more attractive to use them as food for your people in-base.

It's also very annoying that bread gets so much attention but the rest of the food items basically just get dumped into the cooking stove. Making food items other than bread tends to lead to problems due to the way in which they are both made and stored. And besides that all the crop fields have different yields which feels unfair. I think it would be better if all base food items required the kind of production buildings that bread requires and have their own storage containers as well.

Rice could stand to get a the bread treatment, have it be combine-able the same way bread currently is. That way both dry and wet base locations get the same kind of food variety.

And of course it would be nice to have a way of obtaining meat rather then combat or trade.

It would also be nice to see fabric be used into food creation as well, that way all crops will need to be used for the best food items. For example the Ration Pack could require fabric to be produced, which can make sense as the fabric would serve as the packaging for the food. You can do the same with other high end food items, maybe have them incorporate Iron Plates or Building Materials to serve as the packaging for boxes.

I hope all this makes some sense, food in this game just seems as a bit of a mess right now. Good luck with your game.
