Wandering the Bast area I was struck with the desire to try and rebuild the ransacked towns that I found. Alas that is not possible.
While they are cool, and give a great impression of the nature of the area they are pretty pointless in the game. Same with many of the other ruins and things.

It would be cool if we could rebuild and resettle some of these places.
As for the ravaged towns I'm thinking a seven samurai situation. Rebuild the town and try and help the farmers and such to hold off the holy nation raids. I would not expect the town to become my property as they are the property of the UC, but It would be cool to be able to rebuild them and help repopulate them. I could then purchase a house in town and live there.

To that end I was also thinking that there is a new type of building stat that is needed. "Housing" Just like setting a building to public or private, if you build a building and set it to "Housing" then it would attract one settler for each bed that you build inside. This would allow you to rebuild the destroyed farms and attract a population back to the area.

Other areas I would just like to rebuild and take over and suffer the consequences. Like one of the ruined mines, or one of the ancient ruins. If I rebuild either one and made it habitable I would expect the former owners would then want it back. Be they HN or Iron spiders. And I would have to deal with that problem.

So the summary, be able to rebuild ruins we find and inhabit them, add a housing building status to repopulate rebuilt towns and defend them.

I know I don't ask for much
Thanks for the great game.

It would also be great the other way around thats cities could be destroyed instead of rebuilded. But I sure think it is alot of work to implement and this is more a luxury feature that wil maybe be added later on after the more important things are fixed like the new map section. It is already a nice game the way it is now.

I could see it where you might find some citizens huddled in the ruins, and through a brief dialogue tree it starts a somewhat scripted event where they start working on gathering stone and rebuilding, with the expectation that you're going to stick around to defend them. Occasionally some scouts come in and attack, followed by larger attacking forces, and after a long enough time the faction allied to the rebuilt settlement sends a detachment to relieve you, and you get some positive faction standing (and perhaps some cats) as a reward. And if the settlement is overrun again, it resets back to the ruined state for you to try again.

Alternatively, you could join the attacking army and be tasked to attack a settlement and occupy it, during which the faction you stole it from sends troops against you. After a long enough time the army you spoke to sends a detachment, gives you your reward and proceeds to reduce the place to rubble (OR they bring along their own settlers to take it for themselves)

As a mod it seems more like a matter of scripting more than any new animation. I guess it would depend on whether or not having characters outside of the player faction doing build orders is supported.
