Pretty self explanatory.
You can't kill downed opponents, since then the enemy should be able to do the same to you and that wouldn't be fun.
But what about carnivorous animals eating your people? I want my Bonedog to go eat the enemy and fill its belly!
Would also make Bonedogs useful for cleaning up unconscious or playing dead enemies in your base after a raid.

Sounds neat.
But then we'd have to be careful around NPC towns, incase some NPC gets downed and our animals start to snack on him and trigger whatever buddies he has to attack us? Could cause a lot of trouble, unwanted combat, reputation loss, bounties.

Perhaps we'd be able to toggle it on/off through the AI interface, being toggled off by default.

That sounds too artificial to me, I mean if they eat people then they should eat people. I was more thinking of a tool tip during the loading screens to let players know of the potential danger.
But if you do want to be able to turn it on/off then maybe some kind of animal trainer stat is in order that allows you to keep better control over your animal so it won't run amok. The same stat could also work on the dogs tendency to run around with body parts.

I like that. That would be a funny way to get into trouble.

it can be modded
though in truth its kinda of a pain.
i had it happening in my animal traders mod. I went thou each animal and removed the AI that allowed it. was causing to many issues.
but you could do the same thing and just add the AI for it to the animals that do not have it.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

Can you add it for people? Like members of the squad?

yes
under races.
select the race you want to modify
select AI Goals, select eating any bodies then set the amount to 3 or 5 then 100 at the end.
but it would add it to every character associated with that race.
you would need to make a new race and only associate that race to the ones you want to modify with that value.
but there is no way to mod AU value for eating bodies. so it would only be a animation of the act.
