True that, would go against he spirit of the game, and maybe the current mechanics, especially if it would make that much of a difference, tho i guess would be a somehwat entertaining/funny feature, and i guess in Kenshi would be somewhat harder than M&B tho xD.
Maybe someone would be able to mod it (if possible of course xD), None the less the game will be good with or without, would be just one adition anyway, so isn t something it kill me for not having.

It helps to think of the game less as an RTS game, rather more as a 4X RPG. Chris has stated in the past that in the future we should be able to design squads equipment, and then have our craftsmen create the required equipment and newly acquired troops fill the roll of the various members of the squad. For example, in the future you can outfit a unit with a light weapon and armors, as well as medical supplies for a medic, another with heavy weapons and armors for a heavy unit and round out the squad with a few Sabre users with Ringed weapons and medium weight armors. Then you should be able to fill a squad and save it as, for example, scouts. Then as you acquire the appropriate number of new units, you should be able to group them into a squad, designate them as a "scouts" unit and your craftsmen will create and supply the unit without any further micromanagement.
The game as it stands is something of a placeholder, meant to insure that the game will be fun at every stage from starting out with a single squad, until we have the capabilities of creating a vast army and besieging enemy cities. Features are constantly being added, but I am fairly certain a "hero" mode doesn't seem (IMO) to fit with Chris' vision of Kenshi as he has described it in the past.

Oh the parts you said in the begin are great i had read and found some of them in the faq s and other places with information about the game pans, but nnot all of them, thanks for the extra knoledge (good one), and yeah i know pretty much that a lot of the current stuff is temporary, tho already fun, i read a lot around the posts, or the site itself so i got informed of most parts. Thanks for the nwe info none the less
.
Well even if without such mode we alll know it wil be a great game, and not only but in certain situations hero mode could rather be a pain in the ass than a helper, when having a lot of squads around, something could show up and once you out of it, "Where my squads..??" xD.

It s Hbrown!! Gotta get some pies!
I don't actually see Kenshi as an X-COM style of game.X-COM is more turn-based game like the Fire Emblem series, where Kenshi is more dynamic.iSuck345 wrote:I don't agree with this, I like Kenshi being the X-COM based game it is (and X-COM is quite amazing mind you).
Also, it's not the developers' fault, EA is rushing teams and because of that they release bad games. What they should do is turn to Steam instead of EA.
The game I was imagining when thinking of this idea was the Rome game I mentioned above. But the better idea was Spellforce 2: Gold Edition (RTS/RPG, squad based campaign that allows you to take command of a hero unit)
Except that, you would NOT be able to constantly switch out to another unit once the one you were controlling is knocked out/killed. Someone else here said that it would break the foundation of the game of "No Hero Unit" in this game, however. Why not just add a timer delay within it then? If you go into hero mode and said unit is knocked out/killed, you would not be able to control another unit for 15+ minutes in real life time.
Other people mentioned that there is too much to add in, before even considering this idea.
Well, this is a suggestion- I didn't expect this to be implanted (If it was implanted) anywhere soon, more thinking it was one of those updates after the Full Release of Kenshi once the developers have all they want and want to add in more.
Of course it is quite very OP considering you're taking micromanage to the full extent, controlling one unit. It could very be like Mount and Blade Warband where it's quite easy to wreck stuff up by yourself. However, it doesn't have to be like Mount and Blade Status. Why not add in a Stamina Bar? That way, you can't constantly hit and run like in Mount and Blade, you can't block everything easy peazy due to getting fatigued. And such.
It's also an optional content as no one is required to do this to play the game.
It just adds in the effect of sucking you into the game environment personally playing as one of your squad member.
In the end however, this is just my opinion. I like the idea of it- which is why I suggested it. People will agree, people will disagree. I don't believe I'll see this in Kenshi near-future/at all anyhow, just wanted to get my thoughts across.
Sorry to bring up lots of old subjects but it's a lonely friday night and all...anyway "4X RPG" that's the first time I've seen that term, usually they are attributed for space empire games like Master of Orion, X3 or even Civilization. People would say it's a 4X game with a good RPG element or RPG with a 4X element but rarely both. As far I know of an open procedural generated world 4x RPG is a space themed game still in production called Limit Theory.Clawdius Talonious wrote:It helps to think of the game less as an RTS game, rather more as a 4X RPG. So I do agree Kenshi is in a class of it's own as a 4X-RPG. You could say M&B is a RTS-RPG and I've seen lots of modders who tried to implement extra city functions almost similar to the Suikoden series concept but they never got it quite close enough.
If what Clawdius Talonius said are true then there's a lot of great things I would look forward for in this game. I can already imagine squads dedicated to their unique jobs like light armed scouts who patrols the supply/trade routes, stealthy ninja as raiders and heavy armoured warriors for frontline battle along with a small group of elite master swordsmen kept aside for emergency like exterminating gigantic monsters. The charms of kenshi should be in it's 4X management and open world rpg.
Getting off topic since this reminded me of rank and leadership I think to those who are familliar with X-com apocalypse, there is a ranking system when your units increase in strength which is related to the total numbers of your units.
Since no one had mentioned this I believe Kenshi would also be a great successor to the Suikoden series concept. Nwn2 tried to implement similar concept too but sadly I don't have the time and patience to play a scripted rpg until I reach the point where i could start managing the castle suikoden style. Those who had played the playstation suikoden series would understand the joy of traveling the world and gathering heroes and expert builders/craftperson to fight together under a common cause.
