I found 0 matches for Literacy so i assume something like this has not been suggested .

Having character being able to read and write would be amazing. Paired with the idea that cites progress themselves and to have an on going economy would highlight both ideas.

Messengers being sent from town to town with news, escorting them or raiding them and disrupt your enemy's government.

Being able to publish poetry and books your character has made and make money off it to be picked up at the publisher every so week or two. Depending on the skill and how the book came out to be would determine pay as well as fame.

the living breathing economy most likely can't be done. as it would be extremely complex to code and get it to work right. The Devs are still working on getting hauling working properly, but we can usually fix it manually. with the AI, that would not be possible and could grind the entire economy and good sold into the dirt.
not to mention the hualing needed to fill shops up with needed goods. making of weapons and armour. all of it would add a massive amount of CPU time and thus also render the game extremely laggy ( worse then it is now , way worse )
great idea, but too complex.

as for poems writing and selling for profit. how would you judge them and mark them for sale? and how would you judge the price of one poem you make otherwise they would all have to have 1 set price as there is no way to scan the poem and set a price to it.

now there are books in game and not all are required for research. and some are starting to tell the lore of the world of Kenshi. so that might be the best rout there. otherwise i really don't see poems as a worthwhile feature personally. though others might like it.
