The square.

There has never been anything more perfect for the sake of using up space, circles pale in comparison.
If only we had more squares for our ground area to build on.

So, a simple request, 3 and 4 story Stormhouses, at tech level 3 and 4 (ironic right?) and if I may be so bold with slightly improved locks 2 story is 15 lock, so how about 25 and 35. (s-iv is 45).

Again, I would love to see it part of the basic game otherwise consider it a mod request.

The better option would be if they could make buildings stackable then we could snap buildings on tap an expand them as needed.

Why not make it modular?

For instance, a normal stormhouse can be upgraded at X tech to add a 2nd story to the existing building, etc..

Perhaps starting with a foundation that can clip into terrain and tries to stay as level as possible as long as the "top" doesn't clip.

What I currently do is build a house, then shift+f12 to set pitch/roll to 0. Perhaps set angle to a multiple of 15 for easier inside editing for stuff that just won't place closer to a wall even though it has ample space. And possibly adjust height so there's no floating/clipping inside. F5/F9 and voila.
It's a lot of work but at least the end result doesn't look like a bloodrum addled Pisa/Picasso aficionado designed it.

A caveat, pathing might be an issue for tall buildings. I've had issues with gunners on top of watchtowers not automatically going to their assigned turret when not fairly close to the tower (after grabbing food for instance).
