The demand and argument about executing downed foes is pretty heavy and I don't see this demand for it ending anytime soon. While I don't think executing people who are downed can be added for gameplay experience reasons (mostly due to fact you could just wipe out an entire city by knocking people out and then executing them, or executing them after animals or something else has knocked them out), I think it is something that sort of just leaves that "but why??" taste in people's mouths.

When explaining this to another person, it occurred to me that there could possibly be something along these lines, and that is to have the ability for some player owned animals (like dogs) to be able to "eat alive" downed foes. This would ofcourse play on the same rules as when wild animals try to eat others. That being if they are above their KO mark, they will just scream and get back up. This would require the player to actually do enough damage to the enemies already to justify being able to just kill them.

Sounds okay. But i see a few downs in the way of executing this, no pun intended.

If it'd be an animal AI's decision, then it could potentially lead to uncontrollable animals, straying far from their main group, or staying behind them, looking for some food.

If it it'd be the player's decision, then it's not much diffirent from humanoids executing other humanoids with all due moral and mechanical controversies applied.

If it could be implemented in a way that only very starved animal would do such a thing, though, then it'd make sense. Beast getting hungry, getting mad, disobey and just follows the instincts.
