I was looking for the previous thread about robots being able to swap limbs, but was unable to find it, so I'm starting it back up with a new to me thought.
Have skeles start with prostatic limbs, and allow them to just swap them out.
This means that you could have starting robotic characters with all sorts of mismatched limps or even missing limbs to add more character to them.
It means the search for the limbs with early robotic characters would be interesting. (Standing there with a hive made part looking at the shiny lifter arm in the store window.)
It also means that you would spend cats on upgrades.
And that they could walk around carrying a backpack full of limbs that they swap out for the current purpose.
I think it adds a lot of new interest to robotic characters.
Also if a prostatic limb is damaged to -100, like an arm it should be unrepairable. Thus the need to find a new one.
start robots with default limbs in place.

That's a brilliant idea. And it should also be moddable, no? Kinda like the bedrock bottom start, where you start with no limbs. But this one will be with added random(or not) prosthetics and a skeleton character? The name would be: Junkyard skeleton. "You wake up amongst heaps of rusty metal..." And It would start somewhere near Fog Islands, lots of junk there.
I feel like robots are already insanely strong, and shouldnt even be able to lose arms, so that they can't get op prosthetics.
They don't eat, and robot beds heal them insanely quick, don't even need repair kits, because of those beds.
Not to mention 200 hp
AND IMMUNE TO THE WEATHER

I Agree- Make a default skeleton arm (i think every sub race might need their own) or give the ability to just upgrade it without actually replacing the arm it would come with

The thing is, as i see it, that currently the easiest way to allow upgrades is through limbloss. Idk though, they're pretty miserable, they won't heal on their own, and they might be strong when you've got a developed base or have found that bed, but upon a gamestart, given the high price of SRK, it's rather hard. Specially if you'd start on HN territory.
Although i think they should have most, if not all of the stats fixed, to compensate for their strong sides. How is robot supposed to train strenght or agility or perception anyway? I hope this falls under "robot strenght" plans on Trello.

Not even close to hard. Mine at the start, and none of your income goes to food ??? profit.Sol Lignum wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 9:21 amThe thing is, as i see it, that currently the easiest way to allow upgrades is through limbloss. Love the rock bottom robot start idea Sol, I would start my 20th save for that one.
I know that robots are well powered, but they are also rare. And you do need to attain a certain level of tech to maintain them properly. Which is why I like the idea of limbs being breakable. As a robot the thing you have to spend money on is repairs. and if you are out in the world those repairs are expensive. You have to carry expensive repair kits or you don't heal. Now add to that the need to carry replacement arms and legs in case one of yours is broken beyond repair and it makes you more vulnerable.
If you find a uber awesome limb and then suddenly it's broken by a screaming bandit now you have to replace it with one from the hive till you can get some place with a decent one. Ouch!.
You could also make it so HN knights will continue to hack at a Skele when it's down till all the arms and legs are off. Just to make sure. It would fit their MO.

Heh, would be better off with chest, but i guess this falls under "finisher moves" and this won't be added. But they can do it as a mean of humiliation. Although i think they "should" just take skeles to the flame, that's what their cause is after all.
