I was just recently playing kenshi again and i really wish you could "hook up" your iron refinery to the steel refinery so that no one has to bring stuff individually to each one of them. I mean you can basically turn everything already automatic so why not go a step further? The way this could be done is by adding a different object that could be hooked up to the output of one and the input of the other.
So what do you think?
Resource piping system?

You would probably be able to switch the magical medium off in case you'd need some plates. But still, i personally think the manual labour is very ok, so no need to make things any more complicated.
Make a mod with a machine that slaps the two together. That takes the iron ore, and outputs steel bars.
I don't know jack about 3d modelling, but I presume that is fairly simple to combine 2 things. Not that I know what I'm talking about here. From the FCS side it is pretty simple to do at least.

I already had a talk with the modder "Spoonsonelbows" that made the "spoons overhaul mod" on steam workshop and he says that it's currently impossible to do as long as the devs don't add more functionality to fcs. So yeah for this to work we need to wait until the game comes out full and maybe then they might give us free reign over the editor too.
...and so my legacy continues...
If you're talking about dynamically combing two existing machines to make them work together... yeah that you can't do. If you talking about 1 machine that takes in iron ore and spits out steel bars... that's not only possible but very easy. The question is having it look good doing so. So I figured combining the models for the 2 machines. But yeah I could make something that has that functionality in about a minute. It just wouldn't look right, so I wouldn't want it in my game.TerrorofKenshi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 4:37 pmI already had a talk with the modder "Spoonsonelbows" that made the "spoons overhaul mod" on steam workshop and he says that it's currently impossible to do as long as the devs don't add more functionality to fcs. Yeah, that sorta hit me too after learning a bit more about the FCS lol. It's basically just making a new "functionality" and a new building and you're set. Maybe i'm gonna add it in a personal mod of mine instead but as an "Hybrid building". Or i could just make chanes to the machine itself to use ore instead of plates but then it would collide with another mod that changedd this too. But then again it's Always very easy to undo changes in this game so yeah.bk3000 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 16, 2018 9:37 pmIf you're talking about dynamically combing two existing machines to make them work together... yeah that you can't do.
