Weapon quick change tickboxes?

I dunno if this has been suggest before but what about weapon quick change tickboxes? As it stands, the current system works like this: In combat, if you want to shift from a primary weapon to a secondary one, you've to put the first one in the fighter's inventory/backpack. This is very strange from a lore perspective (characters putting their weapons into a backpack just so they can change weapons).

How about tickboxes? Once you click on a tickbox, the other weapon's tickbox gets unchecked and the checked weapon is now the active one. It's very useful if you want to, say, shift from a Plank to a Jitte. (Allowing your character to become more defensive.)

I would personally rather have an auto detect weakness/strength system. EG katana in mainhand until i attack a skeleton. If I had a cleaver or something without a penalty to whatever I'm attacking then it be used instead.

I have always used a wakazuki on basically every character as a backup weapon just as soon I am able to make them, I often take a fight inside if possible for the bonuses and penalties for npcs using the bigger weapons. It always looked like they automatically used the right weapon but now I am beginning to doubt. I'll have a look next time I play.
