One of the biggest obstacles in the creative side of Kenshi modding right now is the inability to remove an item from a player character's inventory -- in effect, giving a requested item to an npc. We can check against if the player *has* the item, but we can do nothing about that fact afterwards. This is precluding trading or any sort of trade from player to npc other than cats.

I would suggest adding a new Effect to the FCS. You can of course call it whatever you want, but for the sake of example let's call it DM_Remove_Item. This should have at least 3 vars—Var0 would be a check against the condition of the item (0-100% remaining of a consumable such as food, medkits or repair kits), Var1 would check against the minimum quality required (ex. does the npc want at least a Catan #1 iron club, or will they settle for rusted junk?), and Var2 would check against the maximum quality (So we don't accidentally give away our Meitou katana to the guy who just needs something not covered in rust).

I just started modding and this is already one of the biggest hurdles I and other modders I've talked to have had to get around. I hope this suggestion helps, and ends up being added!

A thought that came up while I was wating for this to get approved: Make sure this command only draws on items in the target's inventory or backpack, not anything that's equipped. That should preempt most problems I could see it causing through misuse. Or you could add a Var4, 'Exclude Equipped' 0 false, 1 true

This is needed! I've been wanting to mod a short story but a lack of this feature has been blocking me from doing it.

It might be nice to expand the 'target has item' and 'target has item type' checks as well, to allow weapon/armor types to be checked for, and also to have condition/quality vars to check against, if the above suggestion gets chosen for implementation. It would fully expand the scope of use for dialogue modding.

Can agree that this would be an excellent addition to the game and vey useful for modders.

Hopefully devs take it into account.

I support this. It would make sense for bandits who are robbing you for food, too.
