Heal Someone Using Their Own Medic/Repair Kit

I have sometimes been in a position where I've wanted to heal an NPC but not had the appropriate medic or repair kit, but I can see the NPC has one. If I loot it to heal them, this will normally make them hostile. Any chance the Medic / Repair actions could be slightly modified so they can use the kit of the character who is being healed if they have one, when the healer does not.
A typical example where this would be useful. I like recruiting the Skeleton Burn from Burn's Tower. Unfortunately the area he lives in is occupied by a lot of mechanical spider things. On many occasions when I have reached his tower I will find him lying unconcious because he aggrod a spider and lost. He carries a repair kit and I usually do not. From past experience, I know if I take his he will go hostile and won't talk, so cannot be recruited. Think the same might happen if I steal one from his tower. So would be nice if I could get him back on his feet using his own repair kit without stealing.
Would be nice if the opposite would also be possible, where an ally who is willing to heal one of my characters, would use my unconcious character's kit if the NPC does not have one of their own.
