Well I was playing the game and I got alot of good armour and weapons. I hadn't saved the game is a while which was stupid of me because the game crashed and i lost all my progress

I think an auto save system is in order...

because are always those derps like me out there that forget to save.

Would be handy to have a save feature that auto-saved on a timer, like every ten minutes or something

Quick save and quick load ruins the gameplay. When there is dilemma, attack or not to attack, everyone just saves and attacks and if they win, they continue playing. And if they loose, they reload and decide not to attack.

There will be no true consideration off actions, no fear of losing the game, no true difficulties, there will be no “What if what if what if?”, like there was in Game Design-section. Save-Load cycle is superpower.

That is why I want the present saving system out. And auto-saving isn't enough with only timer. It needs to be "constant." Like in minecraft, every time you leave the game, you will start where you left it. There is no travelling back in time if you accidentally drop into cave full of spiders and no way out. You really have to think what you are doing and what are it's consequences.

Except Kenshi is a very risky game. If there isn't an auto-save, no one would want to risk attacking someone and wouldnt get anywhere at all... And also with Kenshi's complex world, if there was a constant-save feature the game would stutter a lot, unless it was optimized a lot, i would think

I think auto-saves have a tendency to crash games especialy when mods start to be instaled (as in all elder scrolls since morrowind), and quicksaves/saves dont ruin gameplay taking into consideration that in Kenshi you dont respawn as in minecraft, if you lose all your party members ... thats it... bye bye, permadeath sucka.

Personally I think that when starting a new game, there should be options for quick-saveable or auto-save versions. Like how Mount & Blade does its new game files.

there aint no autosave on M&B you can choose between: "Allow me to save at anytime" or "No quiting whitout saving (and no quicksave)"

personally I just think it would be nice to auto save when ever the game pauses to load something. And I guess they could just ingrate the option to turn it off if your running a mod or just don't like the feature. But look at Skyrim... it has an auto save feature and there are tons of mods for that game and (in my experience) I have never had auto save mess up my game or caused me any problems.

Just sayin...

Oh i mean esp/esm adding mods, those are the ones that the autosave and quicksave dont like very much especialy if they are have some overriding files.

M&B does have autosave. On the "Realistic! No quitting without saving!" option, it doesn't let you save manually unless you quit, but it automatically saves whenever you exit a location or battle. That's autosave.

I think it should AT LEAST have the option to auto save the game when ever it loads a new area.
because i mean really... who like walking all the way back across the desert if your game crashes or something and you forgot to save (i sure don't)

it's all good, just pointing that out

On the note about the game saving when loading a new area, i think that would be a great iea

I guess that when the implementation of multi-threading comes to light it will be more confortable to make constant auto-saves ala Mount and Blade Realistic Save mode without ruining the game experience. I particularly like to have all o f my actions unforgivable in an RPG...but then...Kenshi is a different kind...I can actually die out there! But I'm sure that will be brainstormed a lot before the game is finished...

Oh, come on... All those "game-design-things" sounds really great, but the main reason of having auto-save feature is the game's crashes. I built a nice secure base, arranged materials collection jobs and start to research. Gone to make some snacks and saw a "Super Crash Error" on my desktop. And i have to load the game from the last time i clicked on the F5 button, and wait for all the research to be done again. Its really annoying. I am a big fan of Gothic and Gothic 2, but i don't miss those times, playing with my finger on F5 )
And i really don't understand what are you talking 'bout Skyrim mods. An autosave can make the game unplayable with the three hundreds of mods installed? Than it is a problems of mods, not the game. Its like "I did a buggy crappy mod, but it wouldn't work with the part of your game - rip this part out!". Seriously?

P.S. I do think that the quicksave/load is the thing that kills the game idea. But autosave is really needed feature. Just IMHO.

If autosave is only because of bugs, then it would be only a temporary fix anyway, because eventually those bugs will be gone.

if i remember right, Chris did say the game would have autosave but only late in development when the game is near done.
