Religion

Religion is a rather... sensitive topic, but let's get to it. You want to start your religion, but most of the time they force you to talk about peace and have only one diety. I say that they can go to hell. You want realism for the sake of fun and alot of things to change with time and so on? Well religion should be one of them. Religion can be about war, philosofy, politics, survival or peace. It can be to make more wars, increase population, reform society and the way it thinks, make more money, provoke a war or even the biggest cliché: World peace. But not just that: does it make itself above everything else including kings or just something that has been made? Does it want it's members to be rich and powerfull or honourable and have humility and be poor, or does it want to be all like other people? Is it restrictive and extremely disciplined, or people can do what they want and marry other people? Should other people that don't believe in you be burned to death, or be accepted and treated as one of you? Should you be bloodthirsty and do all sorts of evil things, or be extremely moralistic and be "good"? Should it be only to explain certain things, denying all scientific theoris and facts, or accept them and put them into all their schools and everything else is false? Should it tell lies to protect itself or humanity, or tell all the truth and make people know that it happened? Should it be a millitary, or preachy? Should it be in all places, or in certain terrains? Does it accept only certain high or low classes or does it accept everyone that appears and doesn't matter if they can read or not? Does it worship only one all-powerfull diety or multiple dieties that are either non-related or a happy family with no rivalries or none at all?Theese are all things that can be decided by YOU. Kenshi offers alot of diversity in, well, EVERYTHING! Religion should be one of them, for it adds realism and makse it look more real in Kenshi.

I didn't read half the shit you were saying :lol: :lol: Maybe trying to do some paragraphing would help with that.

But if I got you right, you want religions. In which I agree. It would definitely add interesting strategies and other aspects to gameplay. Turning everyone into your religion could be one "final" objective that player could be trying to achieve. Or possibly destroy all religions?

I had written about something like this. Might want to check it :) ---> http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... ion#p12568

Also if I got you right, you want the religions to have different goals. That might be good idea too and that would fit well in with the faction goals that I think we will get. U know... Every squad acting for their own best... According to faction/squad goals thingy... :roll:

If there is possible for player to start your own religion, maybe that's where is possible to choose the guidelines for religion. Choose what color those in it wear, choose "destination" of the religion peace/war/money/help the poor/one religion for all/world domination/anti-world domination/trade/craft...etc.

Well, adding various religions to the game would most likely increase the various faction wars.

Basically, the player already owns a faction, (Which can have followers,establish its own structures and possibly even tax) what would the player gain by creating an additional faction (Which would be the religion) If treated something similar to a business than a faction it might be more workable. (i.e. each "worship building" created would increase the influence of the player in that city).

I don't mean the religion as new faction. Any one can name their faction as religion. (I'm having monks of the lost valley.) I mean the religion that faction can be in. There are many factions now (20?) and every faction could support one religion. There could be anything from 2 to 20 religions.

There are too many spore references, I know. But they could be something like philosophies in spore. Factions with same religion could have little bonus to relations. Factions with different religions would have negative affect. Different religions would have different goals and different ways to achieve that. For example, in spore, specie with aggressive philosophy will attack more and doesn't like to have allies. Same could be in religions in Kenshi.

It is possible to convert other factions to your religion with propaganda and intimidating and bribery. Whether it's one you made or already in the game. If you attack a faction, those with in the same religion would come to defence it.

There can be permanent number of religions that player can join with his faction. Or it could be possible to make your own religion. Name it and choose between few parameters. (I gave few examples earlier.)

Choose religion aggressivity:
1--------5--------10

Choose religion color:
A; A; A; A; A;

Choose main occupation:
Loot; Trade; Mine; Craft;

Choose holy aim:
Wealth; World peace; World domination; Salvation; Health;

You can think more if you like.

Hope you get the idea :)

There's more than just salvation, health, world peace and more clichés than that y'know! That's why I made this: because there were too many clichés. Make a religion to make more wars or to make more wealth happen or to make society see what happens in the world, to make your army fight better, to set morals to men, for survival and so much more dude! I was tired, there was this inner raging scream that disappeared. Faction agressiveness should be one of the so many options. There should also be things that it likes, but if it chooses too many they aren't that effective because it's alot to learn. The scream has ended, and I am happy :) there is so much more you can add to a faction, so much more.

Religion can add a lot to a fictional game.Especially a game with factions.Emperor of the Fading Suns had a great faction based on religion,something along those lines could work in kenshi also.

For those who dont know, in EFS,the religious faction controlled technology.Or made a huge effort to do so.They had their own armed forces,and directed them against any faction who researched things they didnt want other factions to learn.

I think something along that line would work well in kenshi.

Oh yeah. I love the construct a cult idea! I will take snakes, a banner with two snakes facing each other, two giant danish henchmen, a harem, and the ability to control women with my EYEBALLS! Lets start the whole thing off with a continent wide rampage looking for good steel forging techniques, what's the worse that could happen?

As long as I can get a blood cult going I'll be happy. The more sacrifices the better.

Emuzoole the facepecker (The emu god) demands semi-literate, non-alcoholic, somewhat bored and moderately pompous sacrifices. (Served on a bed of lettuce with a side of olives and a decent wine)

By the power of apathy I transform your 'u' into an 'o' giving rise to:

Emozoole the frownwrinkler (the emo god) demands seemingly-literate, caffeine induced, somewhat bored and moderately pompous sacrifices. (Served on a bed of lettuce with a side of olives and a decent whine)

SHAZAM! Who is your marvel now?!!!

Ooooookaaay... so, imma make a religion like the one of either orks or humans! I shall call it "Gork, Mork and da Magic Pimp". It will have the MOST epic tale of ALL history. Starring: an Anne Frank rip off!

Also, I'm seriously enjoying the book.

I think we get it. Citizens could have a loyalty rating that register things like fear or loyalty of my snake cult. This loyalty could magnify the citizens loyalty to the cults kingdom or undermine an opposing kingdom's. Once you have control of a population, you can then perform actions that are usually risky. These are things like uprisings, the elimination of slave holidays, and female clothing restrictions.
