I couldn't see a topic about this already, sorry if somebody has suggested this before.
I think it would be great if it were possible to be notified when an action is completed by a certain member of your faction.
For example, you send one of your guys on a long walk to somewhere (Some town on the horizon). While he goes there, you tend to one of your other guys who is bounty hunting. It would be cool if there was a way of making a little pop-up appear in the corner saying "Harold the Mighty has arrived at his destination".
The same could apply for training activities, or the new mining activities.
EDIT: Perhaps even for long distance move-orders (Or similar), the checkbox could automatically set itself?
Personally I would put this as a check-box below 'goal', which would automatically uncheck itself once the action is complete.
What do you think?
Notifications
Alternative:
A small icon like a turning cog in a corner of the character's portrait when the character is doing anything.
Fighting, training, building, whatever.
Red cog when fighting, probably. You'd want to know that.
Nah, probably a red flashing portrait background when taking any damage. Mixing the functions of UI elements is always bad.
No turning cog: character is idle - he has arrived.
Checkboxes are messy because you have to click them away all the damn time.

Since notifications were recently implemented, and the GUI re-skin is going to be a while, I thought of a few things that could improve the current (and future) notification system.
+1 to Chris sharing his thoughts on the planned GUI re-skin
+1 to notifications for other longer-term goals
When I say longer-term goals, I mean things like:
Since each player has their own definition of "longer-term goal", it would be handy, and it would take pressure off Chris, to be able to mod notifications so each player can define what does, and does not, prompt a notification to appear.
I pitched a similar idea to allow modding the entire GUI in this thread:

Whilst I'm still on the topic of notifications, it would be super cool if walls wouldn't prompt the "Building Construction Complete" notification each time a segment was completed.
A single notification for a string of walls would subtract from the existing clutter, but this can ignored to prioritize the GUI re-skin in the future.

- <Character> has completed their (trek, journey, etc.) - can be triggered by completing a move order that covers > X distance
<Character> has reached Attack Skill 14 on the training dummy
<Character> has achieved 20 confirmed KO's
