First impressions + 1 bug.
These are my first impressions of the game.
I've been waiting for a long time for another game like this and i think it's wonderful.
here's the things I'm concerned about or want changed;
What the hell do second weapons do? Is it a future update?
If i try to follow a caravan trader they never pay me and eventually just freak the fuck out and sort of gradually walk backwards(while tripping balls and sorta going back and forwards,(they flip out is all i got) don't know how to describe this.(haven't tried with my whole party there)
Also I don't know if there's a person max, but there shouldn't be,
I'd love to eventually have like 200 people, 20 raiding, 100 in my outpost etc.
Suggestions
Eyepatches, eye damage, eye slots (might be some badass blind/half-blind monk character with mad dodge and immune to eye damage but tiny defence or something just an idea)
Straight cleaver seems wierdly strong? (after block any with SC they attack super fast compared to others) not sure if just my impression.
The ex-soldier is sorta way to easy compared to all other starts. Maybe, make it the first character, maybe unlock the other characters after certain points in the full version? wanderer seems like the hardest class. It also seems to me like the sabre is an odd blade for an ex-sodlier?(Unless you wanted it to be a one handed sword but just made it too big? (aka like the ringed sabre in Fearless that Jet Li Movie. That one bad guy had it? I'd tell you which one but they all have asian names and i don't have the dvd atm.) I'd also love a spear weapon, naginata or one of those spears with the feathers near the end for a more chinese feel.
Needs a minimap. above all the things I've mentioned a minimap has been on my mind the whole time i've been playing.(It only needs major towns marked and your characters with small dots or something) I've been all; Where am i? *Look bottom right* oh that's not my map. (Do i even have one?) and then i spent like half an hour trying to make it display a map, if i'm just dumb please just tell me the button cause I love this game. OR, At least a compass so you can be all, well the town is NW, i need to go there, figure it out on your map and head there.
setable waypoints, gps item or something similar
OR the alternative is a button that sets your camera true north, so you can actually navigate propperly. instead of sorta, zooming out, moving the camera around and figuring out where north is
Control groups. Ctrl+1 for your main group Ctrl+2 for your trading group
My last suggestion got ruined by notepad. but here's another. Caravans you can hire and follow, to guard. stores take a 40% of the profit, so you get a 10% or maybe if that's too low 20% or something if you're the only guard profit
for defending it. 5% bonus if no one dies.
Sooseru.
P.S. Good lord this is the longest post I've ever made.

First, there is no classes, every character is the same, some have more skills or different weapon, but you can change and train anything.
Secondly, just press "m" for your map, the big "X" is you. A minimap would be a good idea and I think there will be one. And there will be waypoint in the future too, if I remember correctly.

If there's any feature that needs to be added in regards to a map, it's a better sense of which way is North and such. A waypoint would be a great start, but I would add something else. The 'X' alone doesn't tell me in what direction I'm facing on the map and I do have to walk a ways before I figure out in which direction I need to go. Maybe changing that to something that rotates in the direction your facing would be better.
the map thing has been discussed countless times here already
It really is just a placeholder right now. Chris has something epic in mind for the final version like always (similar to jagged alliance 2)

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Having 2 weapons equipped will show both on the character model. It's just cosmetic at the moment though, as only the first weapon will be used. Future weapon plans include bows and spears, and the extent of different weapon types depends on how easy it is to incorporate all their animations.Soosell wrote:What the hell do second weapons do? Not sure about this. For me they tend to spaz out when I'm not close to them. Never bothered me much.Soosell wrote: If i try to follow a caravan trader they never pay me and eventually just freak the fuck out and sort of gradually walk backwards(while tripping balls and sorta going back and forwards,(they flip out is all i got) don't know how to describe this.(haven't tried with my whole party there)
I think the max you can hire is 20 to 30. If you try to hire more, apparently it says your party is full. It's not hard codded, and I've modded in 500 character before, and the game runs, but squaddies to not react the way they are supposed to - the engine can't handle the ai required. Not sure where the cut-off is, but 30 is playable, 100 is not.Soosell wrote: Also I don't know if there's a person max, but there shouldn't be,

Hah. Interesting idea. It would require a new damage location though.Soosell wrote: Suggestions

In my mind, 'wanderer' is the way the game should be played. You're meant to feel like nothing at the start. I guess unlocks would give people a goal of sorts, and throw them into the deep end like most of us were when we started. Good idea.Soosell wrote: The ex-soldier is sorta way to easy compared to all other starts. I would be surprised if this wasn't planned.Soosell wrote: Control groups.
I love the idea of hiring yourself to caravans. It would be great to send some squad members off to guard caravans, and make some money, while you focus on building a base or some such.Soosell wrote: Caravans you can hire and follow, to guard. stores take a 40% of the profit, so you get a 10% or maybe if that's too low 20% or something if you're the only guard profit

Small precision just here, since it could be wrongly understood: it's not the first weapon that is used, but the weapon that deals most damage, whether it's on your back or on your side.Meynolt wrote:Having 2 weapons equipped will show both on the character model. That's useful to know. ta
Would like age/rust markers on weapons, maybe then weapons degrade over time, even the truth weapons, but degrade slower, aka the various qualities of weapons have a sort of...marker instead of you having to check their damage. Maybe a lore-friendly way is to put a year attatched to every weapon, or a Truth grade 1 Sabre, Truth grade 2 sabre etc
There needs to be some sort of, radial defence stat loss. I've had 6 dudes around 1 guy and have him still avoid 6 hits in a row with a defence stat of 6 which is a little tarded. (or the enemy avoid more than 20 hits while my 20 man squad is around him. On that subject when (and i understand that only 5 or so can actually surround a guy) i surround a guy with 20 people and he knocks out 2 people with an attack of 2 and a defence of 4 or so? This seems stupid, especially when i put all my guys on the training dummies until theyt're at 4-almost 5
Edit: atm it's my 20 dudes at around 10 attack each around 9 guards or so, Was like ok this is obviously won, he knocked out 2 of my guys and one guard.
While I watched the fight only 2 and occasionally 1 more guy were actually attacking him. This seems dumb. 20 dudes attack one guy with 4-5 attack/defence stats versus 20 guys with roughly 8/8 average. (This isn't a kung fu film) I should at least only get wounded or something, not knocked out.
