Ok, so yes, we have a map, BUT you can't adjust the size, and you have no idea which way is what until you start moving and see if it's the right direction. Compass based, adjustable mini map please.

Even just a compass would be great, and having the icon on the map have a direction marker. The lack of a mini-map is fine with me to be honest, but if you want to make it less of a cheat and more realistic you could have it so that each squad has to have a map & compass item to be able to show the mini-map or compass in the interface. I say squads as two separate groups of people each end of the map wouldn't be able to use the same items...
