Seeing as how everything is already oriented to "aswd," (or maybe years of gaming has me conditioned to that area of the keyboard), I would like to see it bound to the tilde key.

Space bar is a hotkey for pause/unpause, if that helps. Though when you unpause in this method, it defaults to normal play speed.
If you're looking for hotkeys for each speed, why not 1, 2, and 3? That way you could select one with the keyboard without having to cycle through all options.

Or just have all keys redifineable, as all games should have...

Whaaat? You mean you don't like having someone make all your decisions for you because they don't think you're capable of doing it well? Then you're clearly not a fan of Apple, and for that I salute you.

I'm sure this will be implemented later in the games production's. I believe he is asking for stuff that you don't see in every day games, something that you think would be a great and creative addition to the game, though I do agree, I would love to have Key bindings Introduced into the game soon.

Pause and un-pause, which I know about, is fine. I do a lot of building/labor/traveling in >>>> mode, and it would be handy to have it bound to a key, for efficiency. Tilde just happens to make the most sense to me. Any key would be great, as the keyboard uses muscle memory as opposed to having to look at the screen and hunt down a key with the mouse.
1 through 0 are already bound to squad member select. While we are on that subject, Alt 1 through 0 would be great for quick selecting the rest of the squad members
Maybe it's worth mentioning that it seems easy enough to put in (like inventory, stats and other windows are already), and can be put in for a very near future update.
Yeah, I'm sure there will be custom bindings eventually.

if the game remembered what speed it was going before a pause, that'd remove 95% of the annoyance for me.

Actually I use the whole space/unspace to quickly bring me back into the normal game play speed, if Im about to get into combat its easier to designate who is attack who without having to have the whole thing frozen, I have a problem with targeting enemies while paused. I'm wondering does anyone else have this problem? Either I can't click on them because they turn invisible or the action isn't registered and my guys just kinda sit there.

I think remembering speed is the more intuitive option than keeping the reset-to-normal behaviour. Plus it'd nix that annoying-as-balls speed reset whenever it auto-pauses while loading a new area.

Couldn't have said it better myself, and I must admit that was pretty annoying. Maybe if the keybinds were out We would all be happy.

When control groups are in, the number keys should pretty much all be spoken for. Just my opinion though.

There's always the F# keys then. Or Ctrl+# combos.
