Town and citizen diversity, town work

First post for me so hi everyone
I was thinking it's a bit odd that only the player has things like an ore processor and so on. I was thinking it would be neat if towns had a bias for certain things, they would perhaps sell much more of their goods they produce and at a lower price than in other towns, but outside of that they would have limited supplies and willing to pay more for those other goods. This would also encourage the guys who want to go through the game doing trading as their main thing.
Here are some examples:
- Town with stone processing: lots of building supplies and possibly ore available cheaper than elsewhere but no weapon and all their goods sold only in a single "Trade" building. Has some private only housing but not much else.
- Commercial town: whilst not having any production capabilities it's in a central location and has lots of shops and bars with quite a few houses.
- Farming place: a few farms but still a few shops and reasonable amount of houses.
- Police outpost: already in game
then there would mixtures of different things from there in towns.
Having the people in these places working with the right tools in their hands like a pick for a farmer would also help the game with the plausibility and feel. Also having these town locals with a uniform on showing what they do would also be neat, like a dirty set of overalls for a mine worker.
Now for my last concept in these towns being given the ability to be put to work to earn some extra money. For example getting paid to do some farming or something like that. The pay would be modest but it would be good for early start gamers which would prolong the build up process.
Open to opinions.
