Herds, cheese, milk, wool and leather in an animal farming!

We have plantations now for farming crops that's really awesome if you ask me and they look awesome too. Now that's cool because I can have a farmer character but what a bout a shepherded type character that herds Goats or Ankole-Watusi cow look alike cow (Google them, they look fitting enough they are desert sort of cows in Africa) that you can farm at your outpost or herd to different towns and sell produce there. I thought this out and I thought different uses out for each beast.
Cow:
A cow produces milk to sell on and meat but also produces leather for crafting. They would be slow moving but produce a bit. This could also create a new building such as a tanner building for tanning cow skin (leather making). I Pictured a farmer milking them and tanning their leather and then taking his heard on a trading route.
They would be a target to bandits and attract attention when traveling but that adds more challenge!
Goats:
This may seem a bit weirder but goats could produce meat and wool to use in crafting and trading but most weirdly cheese but I'm not sure how yet as goats don't make cheese by themselves right?
If it did I imagine it being brewed rather than baked it seems silly to add a new building for cheese making. I imagine goats being tended to in pens rather than being herded.
I presume you could breed them overtime and eventually sell your herd of animals I'm not sure how you would obtain animals but capturing them seems unfitting.
Sorry if this has been suggested before.

There will be new biomes so don t worry about the desert only at the moment, and i beleive are easy solutions, there could be some maybe rare animals of this in the wild for capture, and there could be places villages, wehre they sell cattle adn you able to buy from them. I enjoy the cow idea, especially due to multiple offers it has, keptical about the goats somehow tho xD.

That could also mean cattle in different biomes would have different attributes prehaps ones in rocky areas could carry packs as they are strong and one in grass lands are well fed and have better mat? I dunno stupid idea?

You do herd goats, people who lived in mountains kept goats because they navigate the mountain.
Goats also produce Milk and cheese alike.
Goats, Buffalo, Sheep, Cows, Donkeys, Camels, Reindeer, certain Horses, Water Buffalo, and Yaks all produce milk that can be turned into cheese.
Of course its not as easy to make say Camel cheese as it is Cow cheese but its cheese
Herding could also open another skill as when moving herds of animals from one location to another, they would sometimes break away and flee. I think that something could be implemented where you need 1 person per 5 animals to move them, could go more into detail of herding but i don't think we need to
I really like this idea and think it will play well into the game
stealing cattle mwhahahaha

Old topic but I also agree with this idea. Herding animals around looking for better place to graze and stealing cattle...would be nice too if grasses could be harvested as fodders. Grow them and harvest...start a trade route to supply city in desert with animal fodders...
My view on this is to integrate herding with animal hunting so that you could also trap wild animal and domesticate them. Tie them up and pull them around or for smaller animal might need to add a cage wagon handled by squaddie or worker/slaves.
That way you could either buy expensive animals from traders to start your herd or hunt them down and tame then. You could even start a zoo or managerie and study them to research tech or simply to complete a quest...sell exotic animals for money...etc
PS: Could even use the traps for people...kill them, enslave them or just le them go. Easy to program but could be applied for many complex gameplay application...from simple harmless traps to complex and deadly devices.

Another that this could mean is other types of creatures like a war dog stealing cattle ect this would be awesome
But I recommend making a new type of npc for it caravans don't really fit in my opionion
