Things like if you're on a mountain and there are enemies below you could roll rocks down create giant dust clouds to cover your men ect

Use mud in swamps for camouflage. Use methane in swamps for fire attacks. There is a lot of potential for something like this.

I thought of something simmalar a while ago but never posted it on the forums, Ive seen stuff like this in the capcom game "dragons dogma" where bandits would lurk on mountains waiting for you and then pushing down a boulder to crush you and cause damage to you a great deal, I see it useful if you were to be a small group and wanting to take down a larger grup with ease or with making a getaway. The dust cloud is cool too.

I am inclined to believe we'll see things such as wood being plentiful in the forested areas, and stone building materials in the mountainous deserts, I'm not certain we'll be able to smear ourselves with mud or ignite swamp gas. While those do seem like interesting ideas, I think it would be easier to implement bandit factions that utilize such tactics than it would be to logically allow the player to do that sort of thing.

When it comes down to it, player tactics should focus on things that will also be applicable when attacking enemy strongholds, and piping swamp gas to an enemy city seems like it would be a lot of trouble.

Camouflage is certainly an interesting idea, but I see it more as something that would be nice to have rather than a necessity. Before that I'd like to see darker nights and shorter line of sight to reflect reduced visibility during the night.

The player in this game is supposed to be able to do basically anything a box can a
And b the dust cloud was also used historically to make it look like the army was far bigger

I think Mafearaak's idea is really good and while the ideal implementation of this idea would be very difficult and not effect gameplay a huge amount as Clawdius mentioned. I think that a simple version of this idea could still be implemented and have the same or near same effects that Mafearaak had in mind.

For the mountains you could simply place "loose boulders" or lumps of rock that if a player with 'X' amount of strengh is told to use the bolder, they will push it down the mountain/hill.

Swamps could have pockets or fissures of gas with high explosive potential. To use them players may requier a certain stat or there may just be a chance that the player who activates the gas is also likely to be effected.

Chris said that there was going to be bonuses depending on the biome you lived in, or something like that. One of these bonuses could be to create defence such a boulders and compact gas, or pit falls and vine traps in the forrest.
I think the hardest thing about creating these environment defenses would be the extra animaions that come with them.

Another swamp idea lead you're enemies into poisin gas

Or in arctic trick your enemies onto thin ice
