Other factions can research
I think that the ai factions should be able to research they all start off with basic tech (different factions start off differently) (different factions have more interest in tech others hardly care) but they should all be able to research so as to add more realism
If you gona make a faction research from 0 there will be no towns, you need to rememeber that this towns were there befor e you, so they could had done the research before you arrived to that zone, i like the idea of they need to research stuff(which acording to the base, what you can do the NPC can too would "ask" for this), but not from the start because of what i said in the begin.
They would rather research exemple, a military faction to improve their military farther, a trade faction blabla, or the oposite, to research till a medium point where they were weak.
Sorry if i got a point of what you posted wrong because i think i might add, if not is good cuz it also has my opinion on it.

What I mean is that like the holy empire starts off at a different point than say bandits
So like te bandits at the beginning are like at player tech level but they could research to become one of the more tech advanced factions
And like you could steal tech info from a faction letting you biuld the thing without researching it or reduce the amount of time researching it you could also trade the research for stuff
And each faction prioritizes different types of research military agricultural ect and you could sabotage research and slow the rate or entirely resets the research done on it
Every faction can have the maximum research stuff

Well Chris has mentioned that research will be dependent on geographical locations and resources available, and also said that eventually all cities would be randomly generated at the start of the game, it would make perfect sense to require the AI factions to have to perform their own research as well as start at varying research levels.
This could also lead to conflicts based on access to rarer resources. (Oh Jesus I think I just walked into a political nightmare about "going to war for oil")

That s our world alright, the swordsman of the deserts would nt be save of it either, and if you notice a lot of the threads with ideas of this gender tend to end with phrases or have like this "this could cuase dispute with factions" but is normal, tho i hope will not be just war around for just this things xD.Tolwrath wrote:This could also lead to conflicts based on access to rarer resources. I imagine the way Chris has it planned now would already be similar to what you have in mind, after all one of the main aspects in this is that AI do what Players do.
Chris has probably set it so different factions have certain limitations to what tech they can gain, start with and how fast they can get it.
This helps to keep factions within the boundaries of there storyline and the game seems more realistic.
When the new biomes and map comes out, im sure there will be much research that factions only get if they expand or conquer another town as Chris said.
With how popular Kenshi is and mod support, its safe to say we are certain to have all those extras if Chris doesnt make them. Extras like a start where everyone begins with nothing, or painting your units with different colours & patterns

The world is nothing but an illusion of the mind
