I've had a brief poke around the forum but I couldn't find a post related to this, or perhaps I didn't look for the correct phrase. I apologise in advance if this is a common repost.
What I'd like to see in Kenshi is the ability to give my units/soldiers/characters whatever you want to call them battle behaviour commands, meaning I'd like the ability to tell them to be aggressive (Attack anything that gets within range) Defensive (Fight back if attacked/defend an ally within range that's under attack) and Passive (Will not seek a fight nor fight back unless commanded otherwise). These are fairly standard when it comes to most RTS games out there and this being a SRPG I thought it'd fit well not to mention it'd make things a lot easier for us.
One thing that really gets to me at this point is how my guys constantly look for trouble. If anyone comes anywhere near my town they go apeshit on them, even if I have my makeshift walls in place so no enemies can get to me. This however leaves me in an awkward spot because my guys would run up to the makeshift wall and just run into it and the enemy would do the same and everything comes to a standstill as neither party can get to each other. If I tell my guys to go back to work, they simply return to the wall in an attempt to attack the enemy. I am forced to take down a part of my wall and get rid of the enemy party before I can make my peeps go back to work. So a passive/defensive feature would be ideal!
Other Features I'd like to see (Most have probably been suggested before though)
Combat Stances - As stated Above.
Spears/polearms - Gimme gimme gimme please! I never understood why games exclude these weapon types almost exclusively, but I love them and would love to see them on this game! They also go well with the theme of the game.
Formations - At the moment, the game is just charge in and watch the clusterfuck. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a good old clusterfuck of death but I consider myself a tactical person and formations would appeal to people who also like to approach fights in a tactical/strategical sense rather than go in, kill and leave!
Mounts - This feature, to me, would just expand on the tactical sense of combat. Mounted combat would be nice in my opinion and a way to counter ranged units. Not saying put in vehicles and run people over but perhaps mount animals such as horses or what not or perhaps some other animals that you may have on this planet/universe you've created.
Shields - Again, just to expand for the tactical side of things. Shields would be great and would offer a good counter against ranged units and let's face it, everyone loves a good 300 moment in games! One problem I see with this is that shields don't really go with the whole Japanese/Samurai theme as they did not use shields. Then again, you have many different factions so perhaps you could make it work!
Training Duels - Currently there are only dummies in game to train on and even they only train your attack ability for a bit and done, the rest you have to grind yourself on bandits and eventually other factions. It would be nice to be able to set your guys against each other in friendly duels where they can gain some fighting experience. Mind you, this feature would have to be similar to the dummies in the sense that the duels would only improve you so much before you have to do real fighting/killing to improve.
Group System - The ability to group a selected amount of units together into one squad so that they're easier to select. As I like to keep one group of guys training and the other farming, this would be an easy way to switch between the two groups.
Faction Elimination/Creation - Title says it all really, I want to war factions, defeat them and completely eliminate them from the map! The creation bit is something that'd I'd like to see. What I had in mind is random 'factions' or 'groups' of AI emerging from outside the world map and establishing their foothold on the map. This could be a small group of settlers (4-8 people) to whole migrations (20+)
Throwing weapons - Ninja game, where are the shurikens at bro?!
These are just some suggestions I could think of, I may think of more as I continue playing the game!
I'm loving this game so far though, yeah there's a few bugs here and there but other than that I love everything about it. The whole wasteland/Japanese theme is awesome as I love both the samurai history and post apocalyptic/wasteland settings in games/films/books etc.
Thanks for your time and keep up the good work!
Lots of Love,
The Dio
