For ranged weapons not just bows
The javelin could have the shortest range but the best damage and it can be thrown while moving bows have the best balance between damage and range slings have a long range but the lowest damage and neither of them can be used while running

why not usable while running?
i have seen people use them irl just fine while running.
and when in combat, standing still is basically akin to cannon fodder going, i'm here "kill me now". or a red shirt.
and spears aka javelins will be added to the game. or something like it.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

Balance with thier range you'd never enter melee javelins are close can be caught and besides the ai might just RUN AWAY every time you get close

Pros and cons

Bows
Pros
Easy to use
Long range
Quick reload
Can pierce armour
Masters are beyond deadly
Flaming ammo :D
Cons
Takes time to get really good
Accuracy can be an issue in wind rain ect
Can be expensive
Medium ammo

Slings
Fast reload
Very very long range
Ammo can be scavenged from around you
Masters are deadlier that any bow
Small space
Light weighs nothing
Cons can't pierce armour
Beginning damage and accuracy is crap
Can take real time months to become a master

Javalins
Pros
High damage
Pierces armour easily
Can be thrown while running
Ammo is easy to refind
No special thrower
Cons
Heavy
Takes a lot of space
Small range
Low ammo
Can be thrown back
Can be dodged

Feel free to post any other pros/cons :)

I don t think bows are that easy to learn, but only one i have something really t say is, slings really long range? I don t think so... if anything it might be less than an arrow, tho i guess also, with distance accuracy gets much harder.

Slings are actually recorded to have a longer range and bows easy to use not learn give a guy a now he could shoot it in the right direction but not neccisarily slings are hard to learn and any idiot can throw a javelin so yeah
Not modern bows they have a longer range yes but ones that would fit kenshi are older really and a good sling with good ammo would out shoot them easy
Why would the sling be used up until the 1900s in warfare if it wasn't effective they only died out when guns started shooting faster if it was easier to teach someone the bow than the sling?
Slings had special "bullets" that had long range
The Romans made special tongs for them to get them out of the dead enemies which shows thier value

Javelins are harder that they look to be honest, landing an a clear shot while legging it across sand would not be easy that's for sure and if you do hit someone you may not be that accurate as you need shorter run ups to land a good one ( I'm not an athlete I only have minor experience with javelins) in my experience.

I have some knowledge and experience with archery (not a bunch granted) but firing your bow quickly would surely mess up your accuracy and effect of it piercing armour particularly at long range.

on the whole though I agree with your pros and cons

What I mean by the any idiot could use a javelin is that it is simple to use
If you can wield a sword and you know which end goes when you can chuck a javelin
That doesn't mean it will be effective just easier to learn over time and more effective right off the bat

Well i can t talk much either, i was just supposing, also agree with the pros and cons, just one thing i disagree, cuz is somewhat generic and a no brainer.

"In the hands of a master is deadly", isn t that pretty much every weapon type? When is hard to learn i see as a pro, but i don t see that one as a con, because as i said, any master is deadly with his best weapon.

Fair enough just thought that different weapons in a masters hands would have different levels of deadliness

Tell me hbrown, I've been thinking... Do you write on a phone or something? Because I've come to notice you usually left out the ' thingies in your posts and put only space where they should have been. Just wanted to ask out of curiosity :)
