I know people want better research>

Since Kenshi is a adapting game. I thought-- the item menues stink. Well... Midgame there should be a research to upgrade your item menu tabs. Your Data collection, healthbars over characters. Communication. Vision towers so you can move your cursor farther to zoom into things. Make it crazy weird upgrades that you have to WORK to get them. I feel this is within Kenshi's style.

Make it so you have to research the scrollin que for crafting. Kind of like DLC quest except "research quests." This makes research not affecting the game too much as I do not want to have to keep research complicated...But having it be dynamically affecting how you see and interact might be fun.

That makes no sense, why would your characters research something for you which makes nothing for them, that is rather... well, "metagame" not really appropriate, but i guess you get what i mean, you by making the GUI changeable by research are breaking the realm between "player and character" so to say, especially when you would need to research scrolling, something like that would be improved from the GUI for all and with no need of research or nothing in game to be done.

By the way the game gui is gona be updated, most likely soon.

There's a difference when you have a single character for diablo style play and economical style play. It makes complete sense, plus instead of just having something nice, you research a better menu and stuff it actually makes a little bit of say you increase carrying space for your people. The inventory menu completely is upgraded. See there's an example.

I don't think this really works as a researchable item. However, I think it would be pretty nifty for the UI to change based on character stats, faction population, and/or faction wealth.

On tht point the UI should rather be changeable by options, not your characters research, i would agree with it changing if was with something in game changing, similar to how Tolwrath said, let us say, they increase a tech, and as so your UI updates to fit their new tech, but not research which your characters do for you, especially to improve the UI, that is off line to me as in this game types, be 1 character or more, gotta get a boundery between player/character "realm"

The UI changing according to your tech level might even work :| There's no need for tech tree to be visible before you even have a research table.

And in the start when you have only, lets say, 3 squad members, there might be enough space in UI to see maybe their status and small healtbar all the time. But after we have army of 200 men there's no point in seeing their statuses individually.

And after we are a big faction with wars and truces and alliances, they would be visible somewhere...

Maybe even have these cosmetic changes according to your play style? Poor squad in a small outpost robbing passing traders? -----> Rusty UI with nails and skulls. Rich trader inside a city? -----> "Shiny" UI with coin purse on one corner and the home towns banner on the other. Powerful warlord? ----> Metallic UI with weapons and sharp edges and spikes. Farmer? ----> farming equipment and hemp leaves

This might be too hard to implement effectively though and it would mostly be cosmetic so only in late development. But still pretty neat feature if it only worked well. :D

That sounds nice, an UI fitting to what you do, as long as is not researcheble i agree, i am against cosmetics which need to be researched unless they bring something for your characters, and you being secondary, i gues is also what you mean, your UI has only space for , you would research "more troops", would increase your UI space but also allow your faction more troops, being that they would be taking more troops due to their research but "unaware" their "god" got a bigger window to see them all

i prefer Goddess personally but hehehe
I can see research needed to increase the amount of troops you can command thou more like administrative in nature so you learn how to command more, Cause you gotta know about the paperwork and logistics of commanding more than a few people. Like officer training school. something along those lines would work.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

Yo dawg! Lets research healthbars which will stick to our heads and make it as dlc?

This s*it resembles me modern stupid shooters for scholars, where you have to press X to watch slowmotion and then you should pay to have dlc with more slowmotion -___-

Characters dont know that they are controlled. They live theyr own life, but together. They research and create things which are realistic for them.

Not "Lord Neko, Queen of the Catgirls"? Goddess just doesn't have that exemplary length that would make it satisfying and elitist to rub in someone's face.

Xen, are you trying to suggest that you would pay Chris additional money to be able to re-skin and rearrange your UI? I mean I already donated extra money, but I just don't think UI re-skins are worth making a dlc item out of.

Edit: goddamn autocorrect.

Why won't we all just stop talking about all these DLC things? I don't think we are gonna have any DLC for Kenshi expect maybe mods. And definitely not costing DLC!!

I mean... Isn't the point here to make a good game? And I find it hard to believe that here's anyone who really thinks game is better if there's DLC you have to BUY, than all the good things would already be in a finished game. Or am I wrong?

Chris has also stated from the very beginning that he wants to make a game that he would like to play himself. I think that he actually wants to make a innovative game that's fun to play and not just a "software" that transfers money from one pocket to another under the disguise of costing DLC.

PS. I don't think that OP really meant to say that he wants DLC. Just using it as an example or smthg

No he did not meant DLC the OP, Xen was just kinda "decompressing", not sure the words here now xD and i guess an example of how this can be wrong, but what i meant before in other posts and he said, and what i stick and reason i disagree at least with this part of the OP.

If the research gonna make UI change or anything, make it secondary, like i said before, exemple they research something which makes them ability to have more soldiers, and due to so your UI changes.
