Random Encounters

Some people may know what I am talking about from the title alone.
The Elder Scrolls did it, Fallout did it, and its a recurring element in games that makes for a unique play experience each time you run the game, which, in my opinion, lines up exceptionally well with Kenshi's vision.
Having a system that generates a random encounter every other trip between two cities (or more or less frequently) brings the otherwise boring travel segments to life with the illusion that there are NPCs out there that are doing exactly what you are doing, and in Kenshi's case, this is more true than ever before, especially since Kenshi's world is about surviving and growing however possible.
For those that have never seen this concept before, random encounters are literally whenever the player encounters something, or somebody, randomly during the player's travels through the game. An example would be encountering a party of bandits waiting in ambush between point A and point B, but the next time the player travels that road, it could be an injured civilian, a stray dog looking for an owner, or two factions fighting a skirmish.
There have been posts about this before but never a dedicated thread to this topic.
