Whenever I get a medic for my team I always have to put him aside while I am fighting the enemy or when he goes around and heals people he is really just in the way of the rest of my party. I would like to see some way the medic can support while your fighters are engaged.
One idea I had was when ranged combat comes (if it does) there should be a tranquilizer gun (or something like that) that the medic can use to shoot different types of medicine into comrades. To get that medicine you would have to go to a station to combine different herbs for different medical effects. And to get that material you should buy it or be able to collect it.
MEDIC!
I'm gonna throw this out there and say that I think this is a "Bad idea" at least what I've read about this game's desired state.darkdasher32 wrote:Whenever I get a medic for my team I always have to put him aside while I am fighting the enemy or when he goes around and heals people he is really just in the way of the rest of my party. Wanting to "heal" in combat, like every other fantasy game is not really what the direction of this game is. I mean; You can't bandage someone's arm if they are swinging a sword with it.
Now with that said; the idea of using tranquilizers or stimulants on players/enemies would add a huge level of combat. Or even something like "quick-clot" which would staunch bleeding, but would still require long term healing or bandaging.

I realized that and I don't want healing to be in this game, it just doesn't fit. I have also realized that you can't really bandage someone while they are moving haha. I just thought it would be cool if there was an idea where a medic can help in battle other then fighting, standing there, or healing after the fact.Tallios wrote:

*Tranquilizers
- -Lowers Dexterity (slows attack)
-Lowers Strength (weakens attack)
-Lowers Endurance/athletics (lowers run speed)
- Speed - Raises Dexterity (Speeds attack)
Steroids - Raises Strength (strengthens attack)
Caffeine - Raises Endurance/athletics (boosts run speed)
- Quikclot - Stops bleed to prevent dying. Does not bandage, may result in loss of limb.
Tourniquet - Stops bleeding to prevent dying. Does not bandage, results in loss of limb.
Here's my thoughts on how to expand this.

Now that is a really good start. I was thinking about the same thing but since it is a tranq, it would do a bit of base damage. I think also to make each of these tranqs you need certian material, like different combinations of herbs and the outer case of the tranq.Tallios wrote:

Keep in mind that Chris has already confirmed firearms will not be implemented, so there will need to be another means to transmit a tranquilizer/sedative to a ranged target.
The obvious answer is with a dart dipped in some concoction and shot through a blowpipe.
The other obvious answer is through the use of poisoned arrowheads.
Both of these means have been used significantly throughout hundreds of different cultures (ninjutsu practices this extensively), and I would find it very enjoyable to introduce more crops that can be processed by some sort of alchemist/botanist structure to produce different items which can be used for many offensive purposes as well as medicinal.

While he may have expressly stated no firearms, this I don't think would preclude, spring-loaded, or possible compressed air delivery systems.PnzrNorm wrote:Keep in mind that Chris has already confirmed firearms will not be implemented, so there will need to be another means to transmit a tranquilizer/sedative to a ranged target.

I would like to propose the following methods of delivery for combat situations;
- -Arrow/Weapon tipping or coating. (lowest level of potency) cheapest method
-incendiary flare/grenade (works like tear gas, but would also provide a "cloud" in an enclosed area, or "cone" based on wind direction & speed. (potency level based on exposure) moderately expensive
-injector style, could be launched by a crossbow-style or spring-loaded. highest level of potency) very expensive

I agree that the tranquilizer does not necessarily need to be a firearm, it can be anything that can administer the medicine. If it can not be a spring loaded tranquilizer it can be a blow dart or something of that nature. Now for the methods of delivery:Tallios wrote: I would like to propose the following methods of delivery for combat situations;

- -Arrows -> They would still do damage to the character you are aiming at and it seems like it would be a little difficult to implement (since you must be able to target allies and enemies with the bow or cross bow) but still viable. (In my eyes).
- incendiary flare/grenade -> I think it would probably have to be something more simplified since grenades are pretty modern. It could be something like a simple smoke bomb called something like an "Aroma Bomb"
- injector style -> The thing we have been talking about and seems like the best idea. But I think the price should vary on what your trying to use. For example maybe a toxin that slows someone down would cost less that a toxin that would decrease their dexterity.
I have everybody trained a little on first aid and a couple guys trained well, and do my bandaging after the fight. If you're having fun with the concept of a dedicated "medic" guy, go for it. But I don't find that its really necessary.darkdasher32 wrote:Whenever I get a medic for my team I always have to put him aside while I am fighting the enemy or when he goes around and heals people he is really just in the way of the rest of my party. Well almost all the features people contribute are not necessary, they are just fun to have. So you're telling me it would not be fun to pump your enemies and allies full of drugs from a distance?Danzigsam wrote: I have everybody trained a little on first aid and a couple guys trained well, and do my bandaging after the fight.
