Please remove the limit for squads. I like the idea of multiple squads but there is no reason there should be a limit. I tested something and added 49 characters to see how the squad system would work with all being in one squad, and it worked perfectly. You can scroll up and down so there is no reason why there should be a 10 character limit.

Hi,

I thought the same as you after playing for a few hours in the experimental version. Why would the squad size be limited to 10 if we can have around 256 people in the army ? xD ?

BUT ! After recruiting and playing some more i realized the game does not really fit, for now at least, some kind of great host of people fighting everything without a scratch.

Now that i reached around 60 - 64 men in my teams i think it is in fact really convenient to be limited to ten. I have 8 teams, one with two skilled runners/engineers, then i have 2 to 4 guys on each squads that will either work farms or craft stuff, the rest i leave to fight. Sometimes i will gather the whole squad and send them out to hunt bandits or whatever hostile thing may be around the base. Sometimes i go and intercept bandits i can see from my outpost.

It feels easier to manage a ten men squad rather than lets say 3 squads of 30 guys all doing their stuff around your base or the world ... So i'd say this system does not need to be final but i believe it is better than having unlimited squadmates per teams.

Just looks better to have a ten to ten battle out in the desert than having 40 mercenaries taking on 8 - 9 hungry bandits ... Just my opinion though ...

BUT...

If the squad cap were raised, and it were possible to select an entire squad with a hotkey stroke, then it would be something similar to the movement of armies in Total War. Then one could have a squad of 60 soldiers, a squad of 60 archers, and the 3rd squad be however many civilians that can all evacuate to a single building should the base defenses be breached.

I've made this suggestion before. It is an easy mod to fix, but it would probably be better that people didn't need to fix it as not everyone is inclined to mod their game.

I think the squad size should at least be higher. Like 24 (3 rows of 8) should fit on screen comfortably without really needing scroll bars.

Really the best option is have no limits on squad size nor number of squads and let people organize it as they see fit. Although if you limit total squads to 10... you could utilize hotkeys to select the entire squads at a time with the numpad - which would be extremely useful.

Not just hotkeys, but also the fact that the current UI doesn't handle more than ~12 character portraits at 1920x1080 particularly well at all.
At smaller resolutions, the portraits move to a third line and become unselectable, so we'll probably see this suggestion be considered more after the UI re-work that's coming soon.

Then just only have 10 people in your squads? why should everyone be forced to abide by that amount?

If you think having 10 per squad is easier for you then simply don't add any more, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be made unlimited for those that want it. Not everyone plays the same way.

For me, having only 10 per squad is incredibly annoying. I find my self having to make multiple groups that should only be one, and having to select all these groups constantly to make them do something instead of only having to have been 1 if i could put any amount in.

unless it's a technical limitation, there shouldn't be a capped amount. If there is a technical limitation, then it should be as many as possible.

May I remind you guys that it is incredibly easy to mod the limit to something else?
The 10 people limit is rather a suggestion by Chris, not something you are forced to use.

I'v seen and heard that quite a bit around the forums, but things like this shouldn't be endorsed to be modded in instead of being part of the vanilla game.

let's not go on the route Arma3/BIS took where they rely on the community to mod everything in..
