scavenging

Currently scavenging is finding swords or leather ect... in a animal nest.
This is a good start, but scavenging to stay alive is such a great part of Survival games. I would really like to see it expanded. For example finding a broken down relic that is not marked on the map, and having an someone with enough engineer skill to remove an engine that can be turned into an amped up generator that you can't build normally.
Put the saliva from the Bog frog in your still and get a bottle of hooch so powerful any bar will pay 2000 cats for it.
Research into giant fire fly butts allows you to either increase the efficiency of your various lights, or create a light that runs without using any energy, just needs 5 butts to build it.
Harvest the bones from one of those giant skeletons you see and you can make bone weapons and armor.
Find an ancient library with dusty books. Read enough of them and gain a blue print of something no one else currently knows how to make.
Find some strange grains growing in the wild and you can harvest them and grow a unique crop, that you can create special hearty bread from. But only if you have the proper farming skill.
Find and mine a rare metal that allows you to create a few unique and strong blades if you have the skill to not ruin them.
Find a feathery totem headdress that if you wear it on your head cannibals will not attack you.
You find an abandon building in a fertile spot in the wilderness right next to a good source of water, stone, iron. No ones home (right now) why not move in.
Perhaps even a limited gold or gem vain that you can mine and sell for a quick monetary boost. This could even be a new start option. (You have no weapons and only limited cash but you have a map to a gold mine. Now how are you going to get there.)
The options are limitless.
These things would be small encounter type things that should appear randomly in the world. Not all are in every world. and they shouldn't be marked on the map. they are only found by exploring or you might pickup on a location if you listen to the gossip in the bar or talk to a traveling merchant. Or you might buy a rare tome from an unsuspecting merchant that has a obscure map in it.
The best part is that if implemented well these could be continually expanded. Since they show up randomly it would mean that each game would continually be different.
If you want I can come up with about 100 of them for you
