In the new update there will be roads and caravans, so I thought that having bandit factions hiding alongside the road waiting for travelers/traders passing by would be a great behavior function. Even giving Ninja/bandit/cannibals the ability to stealth (invisible) based on their stealth skill would be great. Imagine an assassin hiding behind a rock coming out to kill your small group of survivors because you were not cautious.
Edit: This could also lead to having bounty hunters running around.
Roadside Ambush/NPC Stealth
it wouldn't have to be magic if you could build an ambush pit. It would just have to do with camouflage. instead of a clump of grass it turns out that there is someone hiding in a hole under it instead.
Just like they were talking about doing with a creature.

Hiding is being out of sight, swillo wrote:it wouldn't have to be magic if you could build an ambush pit. It would just have to do with camouflage. instead of a clump of grass it turns out that there is someone hiding in a hole under it instead.

invisible is being incapable of being noticed.
so long as the 'hides' are noticeable i have no problem with it. the higher the stealth they better they blend with the environment.
but they should always have a way to notice them. way to many games 'hide' the enemy an until you step on the trigger point you can't see them which is silly if someone is alert , and looking for enemies they're more likely to spot potential 'traps'. especially if they've experienced them a few times.
Also there shouldn't be fixed points where they set up it should be semi-random. perhaps with the success/fail rate of their attempts effecting it somewhat.
but those rates should always fluctuate based on victory/loss. after all bandits aren't going to keep attacking the same route, if it just results in loss, and no profit.
and Caravan Escorts should similarly adapt there size based on the rumours of how dangerous/safe a specific road is.
Bump agree. I mean, there are NINJAS in this game who utilize no stealth.dotdotdot wrote:It just seems weird to me that the player has the option to sneak around but NPC's have no stealth ability. I would be happy to see at least something put towards that goal.
