I notice sabers are activated int he game, but are sabers implying something like fencing? I don't exactly get what they are.

No but something like a scimatar classes towards a saber.

It's typically a heavier curved blade. In this context, heavier than a Katana, but lighter than a heavy weapon.

Cavalry Sabers are probably the most well known. :D

those arn't cavelry :3 they are asian... cavelry blades dont have that bump on them, they are just a solid... slight curve

The only difference between those and a Cavalry Saber is that the Cavalry Sabers are more flashy around the hilt. Brasswork, etc. Well, and the bump. :P

Are you sure that the bumps in the metalwork are intentional and not just the result of bad craftsmanship?

Fencing would be a rapier, estoc, or side sword. Something very long and thin often with two sides to be used predominately with thrusting attacks against armored opponents. You could considered those Dueling Swords if you want a distinction.

The sabers in this game are more in the Chinese Broadsword category. The ringed ones were actually used to catch and break polearms.
