They can also be used to go past heavelly polluted/radiated areas. Also there may be for example a village with no resource importance or whatsoever, but develops hardened warriors. Theese masks may be used by the warriors to live in the place.

Not a bad thought, as long as the disguise ability requires a full uniform of the faction in question.

Shameful self advertising: I mentioned some stuff similar to this in one of mt feature requests. http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... =16&t=2471 I really want branded armors and stuff, I think it'd be really cool and could make an incredible impact both graphically and functionally.

Advertising aside there's many different types of gas masks, some of them still leave your face visible, or at least part of it. I also don't think they all protect against the same things. Do trench masks from WWI protect against the same stuff masks designed for miners do?

I believe it depends on the filtration system to determine what gets filtered out, unless they are a one filter does all kinda deal.

I like the idea about using gas masks practically, like to prevent airborne diseases or to filter out chemicals in the air. I'd prefer a separate slot for masks though as wearing a bandanna should also allow me to wear a straw hat.

I remember reading somewhere that carbon filter masks can filter out just about anything, but I can't remember the source.

I was thinking something like the mask used by Corvo in Dishonored. Since fashion was pretty generic, he could disguise himself among the public. I can see the player dressing up in generic clothing and putting on the Corvo mask (or whatever design) to walk right past guards for infiltration or whatever. I have a lot of ideas for stealth and siege warfare, I might dump them in a request thread later.

Self advertising? (Wait, because I mentioned full uniforms?)
No, I am not trying to mask what you said as my own, however I do think that it takes more than a gas mask to make a good disguise.

Agreed. But it's definitely a good part of a disguise

The key part of any real good disguise is hiding your face, unless you are Face from the A - Team then you can somehow fit in anywhere.

Can't argue with that.
