First off, I first heard of the game on Steam and it was the only game I voted to be listed there as it was described exactly as how I wanted a game to be.
I've finally joined the forum and had a few questions:
When the Army is full implemented, could you possibly join and spend a career there moving up the ranks. Going from one of the front line meat shields to a more commanding role where you make battle plans and no longer "have" to fight on the front lines.
I haven't read much about this aspect, but will your character be able to take part in politics in a city/town if they choose to and become a leader in that aspect? I feel that could be pretty exciting as well.
Will the game evolve with time? What I mean by this question is; Will characters age? Will relationships develop and children be born? I read that the game constantly evolves with different factions and religions rising and falling and coming in conflict with one another. Gave me a little hope something like this could be in the future as well.

That of children and aging is most likely impossible, because it wold be a shame to loose your best character and first one due to stupid aging.

I agree while it would be frustrating, but it'd be much more challenging and would create for much better stories and continuing a game without needing to restart. Imagine the following:
Your first character became the leader of a faction, lead it to victory over a ten year bloody war. Then sealed his legacy by help rebuilding the land. His daughter is a bit of a tom boy and upon his death she takes the throne and other characters respond to her as her own identity yet remember her father as well which gives her recognition.
Upon her taking the throne enemies of old decide to invade and it's up to you to lead your faction into war from the front line and have to survive huge battles to save your faction.
I think that could definitely make it worth having aging.

You guys obviously have never played The Guild or The Guild 2... Aging, can be done right. (still DOES suck)
In my honest opinion, aging would be an awesome addition, but I believe there should be game modes that you can check off, like a create your own difficulty. Aging/Food/Water/ect... Would be neat to have and be pretty awesome.

I think you may be looking at the game in a slightly wrong light. No character is technically more important than any other (as in there is no legitimate leader of your faction). The faction "leader" is you yourself with your omnipotent control over any character that is considered a part of your faction. So I don't think the leading your men on the front lines idea will work as that seems to describe something more along the lines of Mount and Blade. I obviously can't speak for Chris about how the army career will work and I have no useful ideas for how it could work.

I think you can choose to play as just one character or as a squad, it's up to you.
You could join the army so you can get enough money/experience to go out on your own, or join a few guys up and have the other half of your faction looking after your base.

To the OP: I have heard nothing from Chris about ranking in armies, character level politics, or anything definitive about aging.
Thanks for all the responses, I think a ranking in the military could be cool. Perhaps I thought towns and what no operated not under the control of your character, as I thought they were all separate and you could lead your squad as well.
I definitely would like to see aging and what not. The game already seem incredible.
