I was gonna say something but then i thought i'd give you guys some time to see if you would stop this pointless childish back and forth.
And as i hoped, you did ... except for old man liver who's gone senile.
So pie for everyone ... except for old man liver and Koren (for twice double posting  , bad koren, very bad)

As for the OP, I'm not sure Chris would want to change his engine and plugins that he's been using for a few years now. For another game, he'll maybe look into acquiring an existing game engine or build a new custom engine using newer software, but for kenshi that would be a lot of work/learning just to go away from a familiar environment to something new.

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Need help? pm me or any other mod.

Darn you 1337, I was just about to use my kamehameha on him. Spoiled all my fun. But on a serious note, sorry about the double posts...didn't even realize I did it twice. I get confused when people post at the same time as me.

Its normally better forum etiquette to simply edit the post when you need to add more info. Some people (like myself) indicate with an "EDIT:" what the new text is but it is perfectly valid to simply stick it on the end of your post normally.

I'll tend to make a new post if a few days have passed and no one else has made a comment in the meantime. This updates the thread and 'bumps' it up for those that may have read but not commented so they know there is new content. Mostly though it is just me talking to myself about a topic no one else really cares about (see my kerbal space program thread for an example).

Ya, I just wasn't paying close enough attention. During the day I check the forums while I am busy programming. I have read the rules and understand the right way to do it. Just didn't really notice I was doing it. When he said twice I was like O.O really? Ooops! Sorry! :D

How dare you call poor Old Man Liver senile! You're the ones who are senile! Every one of you! Every one except Old Sane Liver! I'll show you someday! I'll show you all!
Old Man Liver states: "Everything Old Man Liver says is a lie!". Is he telling the truth?

Yeah, I meant no disrespect guys. I just searched the forums and listened to the interview he did, and the question never really came up that I could see. I was mostly just wondering if he had considered it recently. I mean, I know it was probably his best choice back then, 7-8 years ago, but what about now? I'm completely happy with my purchase of the game and its current state, and I'll probably donate more when I see some more awesome stuff.

As far as my assumptions on porting the code taking 2-4 months, those are based on looking over the game's installation folder and a little research (Kenshi has very little obfuscation...). I've also been developing games for about 6-7 years now (C++ originally, C#, .NET, OpenGL/OpenAL, DirectX), and have some experience to base some assumptions on. From working on games using Unity the past couple years, I was just estimating he could take his current Kenshi art assets and his C++ code (he CAN use his current .dll's with Unity Pro) and probably remake Kenshi with Unity in about 2-4 months. I've worked with UDK and Source too, but those are a good bit more complicated and harder to work with.

But yeah, just wanted to present the idea, if he hasn't already considered it. I've only been playing for a couple weeks now, but I've gotten a lot of satisfaction from the game so far. Kenshi is awesome and very unique in what it offers.

I wanted to write a wall of sensible text... but it is no good that way. Instead I tell you a story:

Kenshi is a delicious -bees-. And Chris is the famous cook we all love, because he makes this delicious -bees-. He also has a magnificent beard (but this belongs in another story).
One day, a stranger walked into the Lo-Fi restaurant, ordered Kenshi -bees- and ate it. He loved it too. So he went into the kitchen, to congratulate Chris on his delicious -bees-. But in the kitchen he saw, that Chris does very strange things to the -bees-. "Very unorthodox", the stranger thought.
Since the stranger is a cook too, he suggested using a modern microwave, instead of the dusty old stove, that Chris is using to bake his -bees-. "The -bees- will be more flexible and will taste even more delicious, if you use the microwave", he claimed. "Also, baking the -bees- like that, only takes a fraction of the current time", he assured.
Chris was baffeled. He never used the microwave before for baking -bees-. He normally uses it to warm up some water for his grog. Alas, baking a -bees- in the microwave sounds nice at first, but the Kenshi -bees- is too big for the microwave. "I have to alter the size of the -bees-, so it fits into the microwave", he thought. Also, Kenshi -bees- usually has the fork right baked into the -bees-, so it is easier to eat for the guests. Since it is sticking out, that too represents a size problem.
So he closed the restaurant for several days, so he could figure out, how to make the -bees- fit the microwave. He eventually did it and came up with a way to stuff all the -bees- into the machine, including the fork. On reopening night, he started baking -bees- in the microwaves (he bought a few in the meantime). What he did not realize though was, that you should not have metal objects in the microwave, when turning it on! Oh the horror!
Lo-Fi restaurant burned to the ground, as microwaves were expoding left and right and setting the kitchen on fire. That was the day, the Kenshi -bees- recipe was lost and forgotten, as Chris died in the fire. All they found in the rubble the next day, was his mighty beard.
The end!

PS: Welcome to the boards, dear stranger. I hope you see wisdom in this story. Stay at Lo-Fi to enjoy the -bees- with us. 8-)
Edit and PPS: Whoever is responsible for replacing -bees- with -*CENSORED*-; I will find you!

I don't know if they're manufactured or not, but drunk typos are amusing. Also: microwaved bees... does not sound appetizing.

In this case, not manufactured. I didn't realise I had even been on the kenshi forums until I woke up this afternoon. But now I vaguely remember being quite proud of my post last night because there were no typo's (or so I thought).

Also, "chonking"? Anyone who can figure out what i meant to write...please tell me. It doesn't mean drinking as far as I can tell.

There is nothing wrong with the game engine, only your abilities to see just how far it can be taken. Sure, chris could move it to a different engine but what would that achieve. Do you know what engine its running on....? What would you suggest? An already established game engine that's been/being used by any number of games on the market.

How about instead of picking holes you just sit back and enjoy the damn game.
Besides, its still being made. Who knows what may or may not happen in the future.
