Hello,

I'll start my first post by thanking the game creator but also the active community posting on this forum or in steam hub, the contributions helped me a lot having a good start and a good time in the game.

Before i post my issue in the bug section of the forum i wanted to be sure that it hadn't been report earlier by somebody experiencing the same thing.

Here it is, i built a little outpost with a few houses, mines, farms and stuff. I put some guys in my teams to work in the mine, they make rocks, they got to put those rocks in the rocks storage, but instead of going straight to it, they choose to circle around the buildings. When ordering a character to move in the building, it does the same useless circling around the building instead of choosing the shortest way to enter it.

It's not a big deal, nothing game breaking at all in it, but it looks silly and i really don't understand the reason of it.

Did anybody experience the same thing, is there a reason to this and a way to prevent character from doing this ?

Thank you

Well you could always try using the in-game path-rebuilder with Ctrl+shift+F11. It may fix the weird behavior. Other than that, I can only assume that maybe your buildings are too close together for your guys to run through.

Ok Tolwrath i will try this on my next game session. Buildings are close to each other, and it's like there was an invisible wall and the char move around when circling around the building.
If i got same issue after testing the in-game path-rebuilder i'll post a screenshot to highlight the spot causing the problem.
See you later

It's sometimes the case that characters will take unnecessary paths to places, I've experienced some odd behaviors in that regard, as well as in my own outposts. It seems likely that we may see some improvement with regards to pathing when the walls are reintroduced.

I've had a few instances where my party members have taken the most direct route possible - and clipped through building walls instead of following proper pathing and using the front door to enter a building. I'll have to try that pathing fix rather than scrap the town altogether and migrate my squad to a new instance...
...not before loading everyone up on Raw materials from the previous town so I can get a jump start on building the basic town infrastructure (Shack, Tech Bench I, Stone Mine, Generator, Stone Processor I).

I'll have to try using Ctrl-Shift-F11 next time before completely abandoning my existing village. Thanks for the tip!

yep ctrl-shift-f11 fixes my glass walls most of the time.

but it doesnt solve the running to my other outpost to get material problem.
So for now i just dismantled everything that was causing it.

I ran into something similar, I had my first shack pointing away from my rock mine and every once in a while, when rounding the corner, some of my characters would miss the transfer from the ramp to the ground and either run into the door at the top, or catch on that little bit of wall at the bottom. I did not know about the manual pathing rebuilder Tolwrath, I'm going to try and use that next time it happens, I've just been manually telling them to go to the end of the ramp, that's worked thus far.

Not this, but kinda related.
I was tinkering with the editor and used the aforementioned feature to attempt to resolve a navmesh change made by a building I placed. In my case it didn't recover the path, but worse, after finding all of the sexy things in the editor I just had to play with them and pressed "SAVE". Big freakin' no-no. Created permanant changes to the world map, even across new games.

So I had to uninstall the game and delete my entire Kenshi folder to fix it. Silly me didn't bother to note the problem files. Does anyone know offhand exactly where these changes are stored so if through some lapse I engage in that stupidity again I can just delete the offending files?
