A more fitting website

So, quite a few people are apparently anticipating a mod I'm working on to bring the gray GUI of Kenshi to a style that better fits the current atmosphere of the game world.

While the development of that still rages on (and I rage at the stupid third-party system the GUI is built in), I whipped up this little userstyle that you can use to pimp out the Kenshi website.

It makes lofigames.com look like this;

You can use it in Chrome and Firefox by getting an extension called "Stylish" (here for Chrome, here for Firefox), and then,

Grab it here!

After a successful installation, the dark gray site at lofigames.com will turn into the same stone-and-rust style I've went for in the GUI, plus a little Kenshi-esque silhouette in the background.

It's still a work-in-progress (most notably, the forums are still the same dull gray they are now), but Stylish should be able to effortlessly update the styles once I fix issues with the styles in the near future. Some design snafus also owe to the erratic markup of the site, which I can't help.

I hope you enjoy it! I welcome all feedback without prejudice.

Best,

Hey,

I think it would be better that the background does not stay at the top, but instead follow you when you scroll down. So ive edited it myself and just edited the line 10 and added "fixed" after "no-repeat". this way, you dont have the texture everywhere in the page, but instead have the landscape. But you also lose the scrolling feeling, but thats not very important :P

Also, the text is a bit hard to read, try chnging the color to this one:#DAC495
I think it fit pretty well and is easy to read with the texture behind

Its funny because I started applying your theme to the forum instead of working on my college project XD

EDIT: Hmmm, I should have edited instead of posting... If a moderator come here, could your merge the replies? Thank you

I came in here fully expecting to just see someone bashing the Kenshi website and forums, and was totally prepared to bash that person in response. But I changed my mind. Good job. It looks really good.

Hey guys,

Glad to hear you like it!

Snake956;
I wanted the background to scroll so that people with smaller screens could also see it all (it looks weird when cropped). If Stylish would support injecting Javascript, I'd definitely make a background that scrolled slower than the 'foreground' for an extra nice effect; but that's not possible this way :/

Legibility is of course another major concern; though Georgia 'fits' the style more, it is not as easy to read as the Arial the site used before. Add to that the stone texture, and yeah, it can get problematic. I didn't find that changing the color really did much in that regard. A solution I used in the GUI was to apply a small drop shadow to the text to offset the immediate grain effect of the background. This could also work here, except that it would probably generate a lot of lag on less powerful machines.

Let me know how you get on with the forum theme! It's a huge project to make it all look really nice, especially given the limitations of not being able to edit neither the DOM or the JS.

Tolwrath;
It's not a problem if you don't have a solution! 8-)
